The speed of propagation of the action potential (an electrical signal) in a nerve cell depends (inversely) on the diameter of t

he axon (nerve fiber). If the nerve cell connecting the spinal cord to your feet is 1.2 m long, and the nerve impulse speed is 15 m/s, how long (in s) does it take for the nerve signal to travel this distance?

Answer:

0.08

Explanation:

Length the impulse has to travel i.e., the length of the nerve cell connecting the spinal cord to your feet = 1.2 m

Speed at which the impulse travels in the nerve cell = 15 m/s

Time = Distance / Speed

\text{Time}=\frac{1.2}{15}\\\Rightarrow \text{Time}=0.08\ s

∴ Time taken by the impulse to travel the distance from the nerve cell connecting the spinal cord to your feet is 0.08 seconds

Discuss the effects of breaking a food chain.
Tom [10]

Explanation:

Food chain is linear sequence of the organisms through which the nutrients and the energy pass as one organism eats the another.

If one species in the food chain ceases to exist, the other members in rest of chain could cease to exist too or may increase in population which can affect other food chains. (Breaking of food chain).

This is because the animals in the food chain are dependent on the nutrient present in the another.

For example in the food chain,

Grass ---- Deer ------ Lion

If all deer extinct, the lion will die as they will have nothing to feed on and the population of grass increases.

A ray of light in glass strikes a water-glass interface at an angle of incidence equal to one-half the critical angle for that i
fomenos

Answer:

Explanation:

There will not be any internal reflection . it will be only refraction

critical angle = θ

Sinθ = 1 / μg

μg = 1.43 / 1.33 =

Sinθ = 1.33 / 1.43

= .93

θ = 68.44

angle of incidence i = 68.44 / 2

= 34.22

Sin i / Sin r = μw = 1.33 / 1.43

= .93

sin 34.22 / sinθ₁ = .93 , θ₁ is angle of refraction.

sinθ₁ = sin 34.22 / .93

= .5623 / .93

= .6047

θ₁ = 37 degree Ans
