Steam enters a one-inlet, two-exit control volume at location (1) at 360°C, 100 bar, with a mass flow rate of 2 kg/s. The inlet

pipe is round with a diameter of 5.2 cm. Fifteen percent of the flow leaves through location (2) and the remainder leaves at (3). For steady-state operation, determine the inlet velocity, in m/s, and the mass flow rate at each exit, in kg/s.

Answer:

The inlet velocity is 21.9 m/s.

The mass flow rate at reach exit is 1.7 kg/s.

Explanation:

Given that,

Mass flow rate = 2 kg/s

Diameter of inlet pipe = 5.2 cm

Fifteen percent of the flow leaves through location (2)  and the remainder leaves at (3)

The mass flow rate is

m_{2}=0.15\times2

We need to calculate the mass flow rate at reach exit

Using formula of mass

m_{3}=m_{1}-m_{2}

m_{3}=2-0.15\times2

m_{3}=1.7\ kg/s

We need to calculate the inlet velocity

Using formula of velocity

v=\dfrac{m}{\rho A}

Put the value into the formula

v=\dfrac{2}{42.868\times\dfrac{\pi}{4}\times(5.2\times10^{-2})^2}

v=21.9\ m/s

Hence, The inlet velocity is 21.9 m/s.

The mass flow rate at reach exit is 1.7 kg/s.

A 5.0 kg object moving at 5.0 m/s. KE = mv2 times 1/2
steposvetlana [31]

Answer: KE = 62.5J

Explanation:

Given that

Mass of object = 5kg

kinetic energy KE = ?

velocity of object = 5m/s

Since kinetic energy is the energy possessed by a moving object, and it depends on the mass (m) of the object and the velocity (v) by which it moves. Therefore, the object has kinetic energy.

i.e K.E = 1/2mv^2

KE = 1/2 x 5kg x (5m/s)^2

KE = 0.5 x 5 x 25

KE = 62.5J

Thus, the object has 62.5 joules of kinetic energy.

what is an example of a environmental issue and how was it impacted by humans. please explain in detail where this issue is occu
Burka [1]
An example of an environmental issue is the acid rain in Germany. The acid rain is caused by pollution. Pollution that was caused by car putting harmful gases into the air is the main reason that there is acid rain in Germany. This is a problem because the acid rain is destroying Germany’s forests. Hope this helped!

Which term describes the difference in electrical charge across a membrane? View Available Hint(s) Which term describes the diff
Zinaida [17]

Answer:

Membrane potential

Explanation:

Membrane potential is describes the difference in electrical charge across a membrane.

The difference in potential between exterior  and  interior of the  biological cell is known as Membrane potential.Generally it is denoted by  millivolts like mV and varies from -80 V to -40 V.

So the answer is Membrane potential

What level of nitrates is considered clean water?
lana66690 [7]
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) standard for nitrate in drinking water is 10 milligrams of nitrate (measured as nitrogen) per liter of drinking water (mg/L). * Drinking water with levels of nitrate at or below 10 mg/L is considered safe for everyone.
