Answer: The charge on peptide chain lys-lys-his-glu at pH 7 is +1.

Explanation: A peptide chain is the chain formed from the condensation of two amino acids releasing H_2O molecule and forming N-terminal(Nitrogen- end) and C-terminal(Carboxyl-end). The bonds formed are known as peptide bonds.

Here 4 amino acids join together forming a peptide chain

lys-lys-his-glu

In this peptide chain N-terminal is from lysine (lys) and C-terminal is from Glutamic acid (Glu).

At pH=7,

  • The carboxyl (-COOH) groups will be deprotonated that means they will not have H-atoms and have (-1) charge.
  • The Amino (NH_2) groups will be protonated that means they have H-atoms and have (+1) charge.

So, there are 3 amino groups present each having (+1) charge and 2 carboxyl groups each having (-1) charge.

Total charge on peptide chain = (3\times (+1))+(2\times (-1))

                                                   = +1

Which of the following reactions is a synthesis reaction?
Vedmedyk [2.9K]

Answer:

B) 4H₂(g) + O₂(g) ⟶ 2H₂O(l)

Explanation:

  • Chemical reactions occur when compounds or elements combine to form new compounds or other elements.
  • Chemical reactions may be classified into various types which include synthesis reactions, replacement reaction, decomposition reactions, and precipitation reactions among others.
  • In our case, we were supposed to identify a synthesis reaction.
  • Thus, we need to know what is a synthesis reaction.
  • A synthesis reaction is a reaction that occurs when two elements or small compounds combine to generate a large compound.
  • In this case, B is the choice that shows a synthesis reaction where hydrogen gas combines with oxygen gas to yield water.

The proximate reason for the uptake by plants of nutrients like ammonium nitrate is?
Blizzard [7]

The proximate reason for the uptake by plants of nutrients like ammonium nitrate is homeostatis

What is homeostasis?

Homeostasis refers to an organism's ability to regulate various physiological processes to keep internal states steady and balanced.

How does plant perform homeostatis?

As water leaves the plant tissues into the atmosphere, it takes energy with it in the form of heat.

Much like when we sweat, this allows the plant to cool and maintain homeostasis.

Similarly, the same process allows plants to absorb nutrient like ammonium nitrate.

Thus, the proximate reason for the uptake by plants of nutrients like ammonium nitrate is homeostatis.

Draw a schematic of the hydrogen atom with the single proton in the nucleus, and the n=1, n=2, n=3, and n=4 energy level options
max2010maxim [7]

Explanation:

According to Bohr's postulates, the electron in the present in the lower energy level can absorb energy and exits to higher energy level. Also, when this electron returns back to its orbit, it emits some energy.

Since the hydrogen consists of 1 electron and 1 proton. The lowest energy configuration of the hydrogen is when n =1 or, when the electron is present in the K-shell or the ground state.

The possible transition for the electron given in the question is :

n = 2, 3 and 4

The schematic diagram of the hydrogen atom consisting of these four quantum levels in which the electron can jump (Absorption) and comeback to from these energy levels (emission) .

Thepotemich [5.8K]

1st and 4th options are suitable answers, as these 2 changes are not exactly physical changes as it cant return back to original form and as well as its not cooling, so I feel its 1st and 4th options
