A subway train is designed with a maximum acceleration of +0.20 m/s^2 which allows for both passenger safety and comfort. a. If

subway stations are 1.2 km apart, what is the maximum velocity that can be obtained between stations? b. How long does it take to travel between two stations? (Do not include time spent stopped at a station.) c. The train stops for a total of 45 s at each station. What is the overall average velocity of the train from station to station?

Answer:

a)  v = 480 m / s , b)  t = 109.5 s , c)     v = 7.77 m / s

Explanation:

Let's use the kinematic equations

     v² = v₀² + 2 a x

As part of rest v₀ = 0

     v = 2 ax

Let's reduce the magnitudes to the SI system

     x = 1.2 km (1000 m / 1 km) = 1200 m

     v = 2 0.20 1200

     v = 480 m / s

b) x = v₀ t + ½ a t²

    x = 0 + 1/2 to t²

    t = √ 2 x / a

    t = √ (2 1200 / 0.2)

    t = 109.5 s

c) the average speed is the distance traveled between the time interval

         .x = 1200 m

Total time is travel time plus time that is stopped

        t = 109.5 + 45

        t = 154.5 s

        v = x / t

        v = 1200 / 154.5

        v = 7.77 m / s

8. What is generated by the movement of tiny particles within an object? *
antiseptic1488 [7]

Answer: Thermal Energy

Explanation: I know this answer is correct because I had to look in my notebook for the definition

In my own words: Thermal Energy is the energy coming from heat which means it is generated by the movement of tiny particles with different objects.

Hope this helps! :)

If an astronaut goes on a space walk outside the Space Station, she will quickly float away from the station unless she has a te
Strike441 [17]

Answer:

d. This statement is false. She and the Space Station share the same orbit and will stay together unless they are pushed apart.

Explanation:

In astronomy, orbit is simply a path of an object around another object in a space. That is, orbit is a path of a body that revolves around a gravitating center of mass. Examples of an orbit is are satellite around a planet, orbit around a center of galaxy, planet around the sun, and among others.

On the other hand, space station refers to a spacecraft that can support a group of human for long time in the orbit. Another names for space stations are orbital space station and orbital station.

Therefore, an astronaut goes on a space walk outside the Space Station shares the same orbit with the space station and they will stay together unless they are pushed apart.

One of Lex Luthor's henchman attacks Superman, shooting a rapid-fire stream of 3.3 g bullets at him at a rate of 112/min. The sp
igor_vitrenko [27]

Answer:

3.2451N

Explanation:

Mass of the bullet (m) = 3.3g = 3.3*10^{-3}Kg

Speed of the bullet (V)= 527m/s

Rate of bullet (r) = 112/min = 1.866\sec

We can calculate with this information the average acceleration of bullets

a=V*r = 527\frac{m}{s}\frac{1.866}{s} = 983.38m/s^2

The force is given by,

F=ma\\F=(3.3*10^{-3})*983.38m/s^2 = 3.2451N

That is just because he is Superman.

The pressure at the bottom of a full barrel of water is Poriginal. Determine what happens to the pressure when the radius or hei
erastovalidia [21]

Answer:

C) Pnew=Poriginal/9

Explanation:

From the given conditions:

Original area, A_o=\pi.r_o\,^2

New area of the barrel bottom panel after increasing by a factor of 3:

r_{new}=3r_o

On increasing the radius the area now becomes:

A_{new}=\pi.(3r_o)^2

A_{new}=9\pi.(r_o)^2=9A_o

As we know that there will be no increase in the down-force since the height remains constant.

Pressure is given as:

P_{original}=\frac{Force}{A_o}

∴New pressure:

P_{new}=\frac{Force}{9A}

\Rightarrow P_{new}=\frac{P_{original}}{9}
