Explanation:

The given data is as follows.

    Mass of small bucket (m) = 4 kg

    Mass of big bucket (M) = 12 kg

    Initial velocity (v_{o}) = 0 m/s

    Final velocity (v_{f}) = ?

  Height H_{o} = h_{f} = 2 m

and,    H_{f} = h_{o} = 0 m

Now, according to the law of conservation of energy

         starting conditions = final conditions

  \frac{1}{2}MV^{2}_{o} + Mgh_{o} + \frac{1}{2}mv^{2}_{o} + mgh_{o} = \frac{1}{2}MV^{2}_{f} + Mgh_{f} + \frac{1}{2}mv^{2}_{f} + mgh_{f}

     \frac{1}{2}(12)(0)^{2} + (12)(9.81)(2) + \frac{1}{2}(4)(0)^{2} + (4)(9.81)(0) = \frac{1}{2}(12)V^{2}_{f} + (12)(9.81)(0) + \frac{1}{2}(4)V^{2}_{f} + (4)(9.81)(2)

                 235.44 = 8V^{2}_{f} + 78.48

                V_{f} = 4.43 m/s

Thus, we can conclude that the speed with which this bucket strikes the floor is 4.43 m/s.

A 75 kg Spider Man running at 3.0 m/s jumps onto a trash can lid that has a mass of 10kg and that is already moving in the same
QveST [7]
In order to find the final velocity of the skier and the trash can lid, we may apply the principle of conservation of momentum, which states that the total momentum of a system remains constant. Mathematically, in this case:
m₁v₁ + m₂v₂ = m₃v₃
Where m₃ and v₃ are the combined mass and velocity.

75*3 + 10*2 = (75 + 10)*v₃
v₃ = 2.88 m/s

The final velocity is 2.88 m/s

Which form of energy does a plant store when light is transformed during photosynthesis into sugars?
AlexFokin [52]

Answer:

C. Chemical energy

Explanation:

The different types of energy listed in this question are:

A) Electrical energy: it is the energy related to the flow of electrical charges (current)

B) Nuclear energy: it is the energy contained in the nuclei of the atoms, and released during nuclear reactions

C) Chemical energy: it is the energy contained in the bonds between molecules, and it is released during chemical reactions

D) Thermal energy: it is the energy associated with the motion of molecules

Photosynthesis is the process that plants use to transform the light energy (coming from the Sun) into chemical energy. In fact, in this process, plants absorb CO2 (from the atmosphere) and solar energy (from the light), and they convert them into sugars (glucose) and oxygen. Therefore, the initial energy coming as solar energy is converted into energy of the bonds of the molecules of glucose (so, chemical energy).

So, the correct option is C).

A 5.50-kg object is hung from the bottom end of a vertical spring fastened to an overhead beam. The object is set into vertical
iris [78.8K]

Answer:

17.71N/m

Explanation:

The period of the spring is expressed according to the expression;

T = 2 \pi \sqrt{\frac{m}{k} } \\

m is the mass of the object

k is the force constant

Given

m = 5.50kg

T = 3.50s

Substitute into the formula;

T = 2 \pi \sqrt{\frac{m}{k} } \\3.5 = 2 (3.14) \sqrt{\frac{5.5}{k} } \\3.5 = 6.28 \sqrt{\frac{5.5}{k} } \\\frac{3.5}{6.28} =  \sqrt{\frac{5.5}{k} } \\0.557 = \sqrt{\frac{5.5}{k} } \\square \ both \ sides\\0.557^2 = (\sqrt{\frac{5.5}{k} })^2 \\0.3106 = \frac{5,5}{k}\\k = \frac{5.5}{0.3106}\\k =  17.71N/m

Hence the force constant of the spring is 17.71N/m
