Chemistry

We have to know which of the given statement is not true of carbon.

Not true statement of carbon is - it forms strong ionic bonds.

It can not form ionic bond. to produce ionic bond, carbon has to be converted into either C⁴⁺ or C⁴⁻.

The electronic configuration of C-atom is 1s²2s²2p⁴.

To form C⁴⁺ cation, four electrons must be removed from outermost shell of carbon atom which requires huge energy to supply.

To form C⁴⁻ anion, four electrons must be added to outermost shell of carbon atom which is not possible as outermost shell of C-atom does not have 2d orbital to accommodate extra electrons.

How many significant digits are 6.3590x10 7 mm
Svet_ta [14]
If you go by the decimal there should be 5 significant digits because 0 is a trailing zero and matters since it comes after a decimal. however if you do

6.3590 x 10 ^7 = 63590000 then you would only have 4 significant digits because there is no longer a decimal to make the zero after the 9, significant.

Hope this helps!

How many moles are equal to 89.23g of calcium oxide, CaO?
Katen [24]

1.59moles

Explanation:

Mass  of CaO = 89.23g

Unknown

Number of moles = ?

Solution:

The mole is a unit of measurement in chemistry used to delineate the number of particles an atom contains.

A mole of a substance contains the avogadro's number of particles.

Number of moles = \frac{mass}{molar mass}

Molar mass of CaO = 40 + 16 = 56g/mol

  Number of moles = \frac{89.23}{56} = 1.59moles

A graduated cylinder is filled 25.0 mL with water and a piece of granite is placed in the cylinder, displacing the level to 37.2
kvv77 [185]

The volume of the granite piece in Cm³ is 12.2 cm³

calculation

volume of granite = (volume of cylinder after placing granite - volume of cylinder before placing granite

= 37.2 ml - 25.0 ml = 12.2 ml

convert ml  to Cm³

that is 1 ml = 1 cm³

       12.2 ml =  ? cm³

by cross  multiplication

=(12.2 ml x 1 cm³) / 1 ml = 12.2 cm³

HELP!!!! A glass flask containing 100 milliliters of water is sealed with a rubber stopper and placed on a burner. After a while
kondor19780726 [428]

Answer: A closed system, because energy can enter or leave the container, but the water molecules cannot

Explanation:

Open system: In this system energy and matter both have access to their surroundings beyond the boundaries of system. .

Closed system :In this type system only energy has an access to its surroundings beyond the boundaries of system but not matter.

Isolated system:In this type system exchange of both energy and matter are restricted to move outside the boundaries of system.

According to question, the system given is a closed system because energy is transferred from the burner to glass flask and from the glass flask to the water (matter). But water molecules are only getting condensed on the inside surface of the flask that is exchange of matter beyond the boundaries of the system is restricted. Hence, closed system ,A closed system, because energy can enter or leave the container, but the water molecules cannot.

In a 1.0-liter container there are, at equilibrium, 0.10 mole h2, 0.20 mole n2, and 0.40 mole nh3. what is the value of kc for t
bogdanovich [222]
The reaction involved here would be written as:

2N2 + 3H2 = 2NH3

The equilibrium constant of a reaction is the ratio of the concentrations of the products and the reactants when in equilibrium. The expression for the equilibrium constant of this reaction would be as follows:

Kc = [NH3]^2 / [N2]^2[H2]^3
Kc = 0.40^2 / (0.20)^2 (0.10)^3
Kc = 4000
