Which explains upwelling in the oceans?

Physics

Winds blowing across the ocean surface push water away. Water then rises up from beneath the surface to replace the water that was pushed away. This process is known as “upwelling.”

Upwelling occurs in the open ocean and along coastlines. The reverse process, called “downwelling,” also occurs when wind causes surface water to build up along a coastline and the surface water eventually sinks toward the bottom.

Water that rises to the surface as a result of upwelling is typically colder and is rich in nutrients. These nutrients “fertilize” surface waters, meaning that these surface waters often have high biological productivity.  Therefore, good fishing grounds typically are found where upwelling is common.

At what point in a projectile’s trajectory does it experience a minimum velocity?
ad-work [718]
Minimum velocity occurs at the top of the trajectory, where
the projectile stops rising and starts falling.  For a split second,
it has no vertical speed at all, and its velocity is only the horizontal
speed (which doesn't change).

Three samples of gas each exert 740. mm Hg in separate 2 L containers. What pressure do they exert if they are all placed in a s
Usimov [2.4K]
According to Dalton's law of partial pressure, the total pressure exerted is simply equal to the sum of the partial pressures of the individual gases. Given that all three samples of gas each exert 740 mmHg, when they are placed in a single 2 L container, they exert a pressure of 2220 mmHg on the container which is the sum of their individual pressures.

Amy uses 20N of force to push a lawn mower 10 meters. How much work does she do? *
babunello [35]

She does 200J .

We know she uses 20N of force and 10m is the distance. We multiply both numbers and we are given our answer of 200J. Hope this was helpful. :)
