Phosphorus oxychloride has the chemical formula pocl3, with p as the central atom. in order to minimize formal charge, how many

bonds does phosphorus make to the other atoms in the molecule? (count each single bond as one, each double bond as two, and each triple bond as three).

In POCl₃, Phosphorous will form 5 bonds. The bonds formed are as,

           *  Two Bonds (Double Bond) with Oxygen atom

           *  Three Bonds (Single Bond each) with three Chlorine atoms.

Formal charge:
Formal Charge is calculated using following formula,

Formal Charge = [# of Valence e⁻s] - [e⁻s in lone pairs + 1/2 e⁻s in bonding                                   e⁻s]

        Valence electrons of P  =  5

        e⁻s in lone pair  =  0

        e⁻s in Bonding  =  10
So,

Formal Charge  =  [5]-[0+10/2]

Formal Charge  =  [5]-[5]

Formal Charge  =  0

liraira [26]

Answer:

True

Explanation:

When we consume food, our body converts the excess amount of food in our body into triglycerides and stores it. These triacylglycerols or triglycerides, commonly known as fats, come under the category of lipids.

Triglycerides are the stored form of energy, that our body uses at the time of need.

Adipose tissues are known as fat tissues, as their main function is the storage of triglycerides in our body.

certain c-h groups can form weak hydrogen bonds. why would such a group be more likely to be a hydrogen bond donor group when th
damaskus [11]

Answer:

C-H groups can form weak hydrogen bonds and such compounds are more likely to have hydrogen bond donor groups because the hydrogen group is highly polar which is bonded to a strongly electronegative atom such as carbon, nitrogen and oxygen.

As the atom bonded with hydrogen atom have an equivalent partial negative charge, so it can only accept H-bonds from other atoms.

Thus, c-h groups forming weak hydrogen bonds are more likely to be hydrogen bond donor group.
