Metals have something called a sea of delocalised electrons, this means that when we pass an electrical charge through them, the electrons in the metal can take the charge and pass it to another electron, and so on, as they arent bound to the shell structure of other substances such as diamond, which has no free electrons to carry the charge so it doesnt conduct

snow_tiger [21]

Answer:

has very different properties from sodium and chlorine

Explanation:

We know that salt (chemical name: Sodium Chloride) is made from two elements, Sodium (Na) and Chlorine (Cl). But the properties of the compound of sodium and chlorine has completely different properties than those of its elements: Sodium and Chlorine.

Sodium is quite a low density but highly reactive silvery white metal and Chlorine is a highly reactive greenish yellow gas. While salt (NaCl) is a crystalline material, white in color, which readily dissolves in water and is used as a condiment to add flavor to food.

Boron is an exception to the octet rule and can take up to 10 electrons in its valence shell.
Schach [20]

Answer:

False

Explanation:

Boron is an exception to the octet rule because it possesses less than eight electrons. Boron has five electrons with three of them being valence electrons and therefore has an incomplete octet. It readily forms compounds in which it has six valence electrons, rather than the usual eight.

Hope that helps.
