ANSWER:

(C) KBr

An ionic compound is composed of ions, a positive ion i.e. a cation and a negative ion i.e. an anion. The bond formed between the two elements is an ionic bond which is formed by the complete transfer of electrons from an electropositive element to the electronegative element. The electropositive element loses its electron and gains a positive charge whereas the electronegative atom accepts that electron and gains a negative charge.

In the given examples:

KBr is made up of ions

Potassium being electropositive becomes positively charged K+

Bromine is electronegative and becomes negatively charged Br-

KBr = K⁺Br⁻

Lubov Fominskaja [6]

Answer:

C )

Explanation:

Controlled scientific experiment tests scientific assumption (hypothesis), under controlled conditions.

In controlled scientific experiment, alters the test variable (independent variable) and observes the effects on the outcome variable (dependent variable).

Eg : Studying impact of sunlight on plant's group, where former independent variable is altered & its effects on dependent outcome variable is observed.

A solution of starch at room temperature does not readily decompose to form a solution of simple sugars because
Basile [38]

Explanation:

The starch requires a temperature higher than the room temperature (arround 60 °C) to decompose to form simple sugars. This is because the energy required to break the chemical bonds. Also, it may need the action of some specific enzymes (alpha and beta amilase) to break those bonds.
