A particle decelerates uniformly from a speed of 30 cm/s to rest in a time interval of 5.0 s. It then has a uniform acceleration

of 10 cm/s2 for another 5.0 s. The particle moves in the same direction along a straight line. The average speed over the whole time interval is?

Answer:

V=20cm/s

Explanation:

The average speed is the distance total divided the time total:

V=X/T

First stage:

T1=5s

v_{f} =v_{o} - at

But, v_{f} =0 (decelerates to rest)

then: a =v_{o} /t=0.3/5=0.06m/s^{2}

on the other hand:

x =v_{o}*t - 1/2*at^{2}=0.3*5-1/2*0.06*5^{2}=0.75m

X1=75cm

Second stage:

T2=5s

x =v_{o}*t + 1/2*at^{2}=0+1/2*0.1*5^{2}=1.25m

X2=125cm

Finally:

X=X1+X2=200cm

T=T1+T2=10s

V=X/T=20cm/s

Which option best describes the average acceleration from 40 to 70 s?
MAVERICK [17]

C. The average acceleration is positive and smaller in magnitude than the initial acceleration.

What is average velocity?

Average velocity is defined as the change in position or displacement (∆x) divided by the time intervals (∆t) in which the displacement occurs.

a = Δv/Δt

where;

 • Δv is change in velocity
 • Δt is change in time

a = (250 - 248) / (70 - 40)

a = 0.067 m/s²

Thus, we can conclude that the average acceleration is positive and smaller in magnitude than the initial acceleration.

3) If an airplane is in flight cruising at constant velocity, what can be said about the net work
Crazy boy [7]

Explanation:

Yes!

In physics, constant velocity occurs when there is no net force acting on the object causing it to accelerate. In terms of airplane flight, the two main forces influencing its velocity forward are drag and thrust. At a constant altitude, when the force of thrust equals the opposing force of drag, then the airplane will experience uniform motion in one direction. This can be further explained by Newton’s First Law.

In the park, there are 25 pigeons, 15 squirrels, 5 rabbits, and 5 stray cats. Why
Debora [2.8K]

Answer: Line graph should be used to show how one variable changes over time not to show multiple categories or variables are at one specific point in time.

Explanation:

In maths, statistics, and related fields, graphs are used to visually display variables and their values. In the case of line graphs, these are mainly used to display evolution or change of a variable over time. For example, a line graph can show how the number of divorces changed from 1920 to 2010.

In this context, the number of different animals in the park cannot be represented through a line graph because this situation does not imply a variable changing over time. Moreover, this situation includes multiple variables or categories of animals and the data shows only one specific point in time, which can be better represented through a bar graph.
