Answer: The partial pressure of the oxygen is 698 torr

Explanation:

According to Dalton's law, the total pressure is the sum of individual pressures.

p_{total}=p_A+p_B

Given : p_{total} =total pressure of gases = 720 torr

p_{O_2} = partial pressure of O_2 = ?

p_{H_2O} = partial pressure of H_2O = 22 torr

p_{total}=p_{O_2}+p_{H_2O}

720=p_{O_2}+22

p_{O_2}=698torr

Thus the partial pressure of the oxygen is 698 torr
