To determine the centroid of the object first moment of area is used.

To predict the resistance of a shape to bending and deflection which are directly proportional, second moment of area is used.

What’s The Answer, To The Question In The Photo
Sedbober [7]

Answer:

The correct answer is the third option: The kinetic energy of the water molecules decreases.

Explanation:

Temperature is, in depth, a statistical value; kind of an average of the particles movement in any physical system (such as a glass filled with water). Kinetic energy, for sure, is the energy resulting from movement (technically depending on mass and velocity of a system; in other words, the faster something moves, the greater its kinetic energy.

Since temperature is related to the total average random movement in a system, and so is the kinetic energy (related to movement through velocity), as the thermometer measures <u>less temperature</u>, that would mean that the particles (in this case: water particles) are <u>moving slowly</u>, so that: the slower something moves, the lower its kinetic energy.

<u>In summary:</u> temperature tells about how fast are moving and colliding the particles within a system, and since it is <em>directly proportional</em> to the amount of movement, it can be related (also <em>directly proportional</em>) to the kinectic energy.

The y-component of the force F which a person exerts on the handle of the box wrench is known to be 86 lb. Determine the x-compo
emmainna [20.7K]

Answer:

x-component of force is  38.18 lb where as magnitude of Force is 93.16

Explanation:

Fy of the force F exerted on the handle of the box wrench = 86 lb

Considering the triangle in Fig 1

magnitude of perpendicular = P =  12

magnitude of base = B = 5

using Pythagoras theorem

                        H= \sqrt{P^{2} + B^{2}}

                 H= \sqrt{12^{2} + 5^{2}}

            H=13\\\implies cos \theta = \frac{5}{13} \\\implies sin \theta = \frac{12}{13}\\

y-component of force is given given as:

                              86 = Fsin\theta\\F = 86 (\frac{13}{12})\\F = 93.16 lb\\F_{x} =F cos \theta\\F_{x} = 93.16 (\frac{5}{13})\\F_{x} =38.18 lb.

An archer fires an arrow at a castle 230 m away. The arrow is in flight for 6 seconds, then hits the wall of the castle and stic
Vika [28.1K]

Answer:

(a). The initial speed of the arrow is 49.96 m/s.

(b). The angle is 39.90°.

Explanation:

Given that,

Horizontal distance = 230 m

Time t = 6 sec

Vertical distance = 16 m

We need to calculate the horizontal component

Using formula of horizontal component

R =u\cos\theta t

Put the value into the formula

\dfrac{230}{6} = u\cos\theta

u\cos\theta=38.33.....(I)

We need to calculate the height

Using vertical component

H=u\sin\theta t-\dfrac{1}{2}gt^2

Put the value in the equation

16 =u\sin\theta\times6-\dfrac{1}{2}\times9.8\times6^2

u\sin\theta=\dfrac{16+9.8\times18}{6}

u\sin\theta=32.06.....(II)

Dividing equation (II) and (I)

\dfrac{u\sin\theta}{u\cos\theta}=\dfrac{32.06}{38.33}

\tan\theta=0.8364

\theta=\tan^{-1}0.8364

\theta=39.90^{\circ}

(a). We need to calculate the initial speed

Using equation (I)

u\cos\theta\times t=38.33

Put the value into the formula

u =\dfrac{230}{6\times\cos39.90}

u=49.96\ m/s

(b). We have already calculate the angle.

Hence, (a). The initial speed of the arrow is 49.96 m/s.

(b). The angle is 39.90°.

Consider the uniform electric field E = (8.0ĵ + 2.0 ) ✕ 103 N/C. What is its electric flux (in N · m2/C) through a circular area
cluponka [151]

Answer:

5.09 x 10⁵ Nm²/C

Explanation:

The electric flux φ through a planar area is defined as the electric field Ε times the component of the area Α perpendicular to the field. i.e

φ = E A

From the question;

E = (8.0j + 2.0k) ✕ 10³ N/C

r = radius of the circular area = 9.0m

A = area of a circle = π r²           [Take π = 3.142]

A = 3.142 x 9² = 254.502m²

Now, since the area lies in the x-y plane, only the z-component of the electric field is responsible for the electric flux through the circular area.

Therefore;

φ = (2.0) x 10³ x 254.502

φ = 5.09 x 10⁵ Nm²/C

The electric flux is 5.09 x 10⁵ Nm²/C
