How long does it take light ray B to reach the girls eye? (speed of light at 3*10^8) And could someone explain why?

Physics

Explanation:

Using properties of 30-60-90 triangles, the distance from the vase to the mirror is 2/√3, and the distance from the mirror to the girl is also 2/√3.  So the light travels a total distance of 4/√3 meters.

t = d / v

t = (4/√3 m) / (3×10⁸ m/s)

t = 7.7×10⁻⁹ s

On an ice skating rink, a girl of mass 50 kg stands stationary, face to face with a boy of mass 80 kg. The children push off of
sasho [114]

The velocity of the girl is  -4.8 m/s.

Using the principle of conservation of linear momentum, The total momentum of  bodies before and after collision is constant. Since the two objects are stationary, the initial momentum of each body is zero.

Thus;

0 = (80 × 3) + (50 × v)

0 = 240 + 50 v

-240 = 50 v

v = -240/50

v = -4.8 m/s

Note that the negative sign shows that the velocity of the girl is in opposite direction that that of the girl.

How long does it take light to travel 850 km in a vacuum? Answer in ms.(Express your answer to two significant figures.)
poizon [28]

Answer:

0.002833 sec

Explanation:

Speed of light in vacuum is 3\times 10^{8}m/sec

Given distance = 850 km = 850×1000=850000 m

We have to calculate the time that light take to travel the distance 850 km

Time T=\frac{distance }{speed}=\frac{850000}{3\times 10^8}=2.833\times 10^{-3}sec

So the time taken by light to travel 850 km is 0.002833 sec
