Answer:

The holiday lasted for 18 days.

Explanation:

Let's assume the number of days are as following:

let the rain in the morning and lovely afternoon = X days

Clear morning and rain in the afternoon = Y days

No rain in the morning and in the afternoon = Z days

Now according to the question

Number of days with rain = X + Y = 13 days

Number of days with clear mornings = Y + Z = 11 days

Number of days with clear afternoons = X + Z = 12 days

Solving above 3 equations, we get

X = 7,  Y = 6 and  Z = 5

Now  total number of days on holiday = X+Y+Z = 7+6+5 =18

Hence, total number of days on holiday = 18 days.

A swimmer is capable of swimming at 1.4m/s in still water. a. How far downstream will he land if he swims directly across a 180m
ozzi

Answer:

t = 180 / 1.4 = 129 sec   (time to swim horizontally across river)

S = 129 sec * V     where V is speed of current and S is the distance he will be carried downstream

The problem does not specify V the speed of the river

A large rock of mass me materializes stationary at the orbit of Mercury and falls into the sun. Itf the Sun has a mass ms and ra
son4ous [18]

Answer:

The answer is v = \sqrt{2G\frac{M_s}{R^2}(R-r_s)}.

Explanation:

From the law of gravity,

F = G \frac{Mm}{r^2}

considering F as a conservative force, F = - \nabla U,

the general expression for gravitational potential energy is

U = -G \frac{Mm}{r},

where G is the gravitational constant, M and m are the mass of the attracting bodies, and r is the distance between their centers. The negative sign is because the force approaches zero for large distances, and we choose the zero of gravitational potential energy at an infinite distance away.

However, as the mass of the Sun is much greater than the mass of the rock, the gravitational acceleration is defined as

g = -G \frac{M}{r^2},

(the negative sign indicates that the force is an attractive force), and the potential energy between the rock and the Sun is

U = g M_e R,

which is actually the total energy of the system, because the rock materializes stationary at this point (there is no radial kinetic energy).

When the rock hits the surface of the Sun, almost all potential energy is converted to kinetic energy, but not all because the Sun is not a puntual mass. So the potential energy converted to kinetic energy is

U_p = g M_e(R- r_s),

then, the kinetik energy when the rock hits the surface is

U_k =\frac{1}{2}M_e v^2 = g M_e(R- r_s),

so

v = \sqrt{2g(R-r_s)}

where g is the gravitational acceleration generated by the Sun at R,

g = G \frac{M_s}{R^2}.

The pressure and volume of a fixed mass of gas _ are related. if one decreases, the other ___ ___ this relationship is known as

3) Boyle's
4) mass
5) Kelvin
6) Charles's
7) Gay-Lussac's
8) directly
9) combined
10) the amount

<span>The pressure and volume of a fixed mass of gas are inversely related. If one decreases, the other increases. This relationship is known as Boyle's law. The volume of a fixed mass of a gas is directly proportional to its kelvin temperature. This relationship is known as Charles's law. Gay-Lussac's law states that the pressure of a gas is directly proportional to the kelvin temperature if the volume remains constant. These three separate gas laws can be written as a single expression called the combined gas law. It can be used in situations in which only the amount of gas is constant. </span>
