A pulley system is used at a dock to lift shipments of fish off a boat. If you apply a force of 100 N to the pulley, it pulls th

e shipment with a force of 830 N. a. What is the mechanical advantage of the pulley? b. The pulley has an efficiency of 80%. If you perform 600 J of work, how much useful work does the pulley do?

Explanation:

a. Mechanical advantage = force out / force in

MA = 830 / 100

MA = 8.3

b. Efficiency = work out / work in

0.80 = W / 600 J

W = 480 J

Explanation:

graph would be a straight line from (0, 0) to (400, 8)

Plot points are

PE = mgh

50(0) = 0 J

50(2) = 100 J

50(4) = 200 J

50(6) = 300 J

50(8) = 400 J

Match each method of erosion with the correct definition
Katena32 [7]
In this item, we are asked to determine the correct definition for the terms. It is unfortunate that they meanings to which we could match them are not given. With that, the answers written here are the well-researched ones.

Solution --> This type of erosion happens when the components found in the rocks (i.e. limestone) are dissolved through the acid components of acid rain.

Abrasion --> This is a process by which the rocks that are eroded to the riverbanks wear down other components of the bed.

Saltation --> This process involves the movement of the particles through a series of bounces that are short and are along the surface of the ground. This results to dislodging the other particles.

a block of wood is floating in water. the weight of the part of the block above water is one-third of the total weight of the bl
andrey2020 [161]

The weight of the water displaced is the same as the total weight of the wood block. The fact that 1/3 of the block is above the water level does not matter if you just weigh the total block of wood , then the weight of the total block of wood = the weight of the water displaced by the block of wood. If you want to find density of the block of wood that is a different question - then you need the volume of the block of wood and the information about one- third of the total weight . I hope this helped
