Answer : The volume of 1 M NaOH solution required are, 400 mL

Explanation :

To calculate the volume of base, we use the equation given by neutralization reaction:

n_1M_1V_1=n_2M_2V_2

where,

n_1,M_1\text{ and }V_1 are the n-factor, molarity and volume of acid which is H_2SO_4

n_2,M_2\text{ and }V_2 are the n-factor, molarity and volume of base which is NaOH.

We are given:

n_1=2\\M_1=2M\\V_1=100mL\\n_2=1\\M_2=1M\\V_2=?

Putting values in above equation, we get:

2\times 2M\times 100mL=1\times 1M\times V_2

V_2=400mL

Therefore, the volume of 1 M NaOH solution required are, 400 mL

For which compound does 0.256 mole weigh 12.8 g?
mylen [45]
Number of moles = \frac{mass (g)}{Molar mass}
so to calculate molar mass (Molecular weight of compound):
Molecular weight = \frac{mass (g)}{number of moles}
            = \frac{12.8 g}{0.256 mole} = 50 g / mole
Now we calculate molecular weight of each compound in choices:
a) C₂H₄O = 44
b) CO₂ = 44
c) CH₃Cl = 50.4 ALMOST 50  so this is the correct answer
d) C₂H₆ = 30
