Calculate the activity of KI, x, in the following electrochemical cell if the potential is +0.350 V. Ag|AgCl(s), NaCl(aq,a=0.1)|
Mkey [24]

<u>Answer:</u> The activity KI for the given electrochemical cell is 0.0310

<u>Explanation:</u>

The given chemical cell follows:

Ag|AgCl(s),NaCl(aq.,a=0.1)||KI(aq,a=x)|I_2(s)|Pt

<u>Oxidation half reaction:</u> Ag(s)+Cl^-(aq.,)\rightarrow AgCl(s)+e^-;E^o_{AgCl/Cl^-}=0.22V

<u>Reduction half reaction:</u> \frac{1}{2}I_2(s)+e^-\rightarrow I^-(aq.);E^o_{I_2/I^-}=0.54V

<u>Net cell reaction:</u> Ag(s)+Cl^-(aq.)+\frac{1}{2}I_2(s)\rightarrow AgCl(s)+I^-(aq.)

Oxidation reaction occurs at anode and reduction reaction occurs at cathode.

To calculate the E^o_{cell} of the reaction, we use the equation:

E^o_{cell}=E^o_{cathode}-E^o_{anode}

Putting values in above equation, we get:

E^o_{cell}=0.54-(0.22)=0.32V

To calculate the EMF of the cell, we use the Nernst equation, which is:

E_{cell}=E^o_{cell}-\frac{0.059}{n}\log \frac{a_{I^-}}{a_{Cl^-}}

where,

E_{cell} = electrode potential of the cell = 0.350 V

E^o_{cell} = standard electrode potential of the cell = +0.32 V

n = number of electrons exchanged = 1

a_{Cl^-}=0.1

a_{I^-}=x

Putting values in above equation, we get:

0.350=0.32-\frac{0.059}{1}\times \log(\frac{x}{0.1})

x=0.0310

Hence, the activity KI for the given electrochemical cell is 0.0310

When a horn is moving away from an observer the sound waves from it will pass by the observer____ frequently, causing the pitch
xxMikexx [17]
The answer: less frequency, causing the pitch to be lowered.

This is known as the Doppler effect. When you have an object that is producing sound while moving, the side that it is moving towards to will have waves that will become a bit more squished together, while the other side that it is moving away from will have waves that are spaced a bit more apart from each other. The only determining factor in this is the magnitude of the speed, so the faster the object is moving towards or away from you, then the more severe pitch change the object will have.
In this case, it's just asking in general what would happen if the horn was moving away from you while it was giving off sound waves. Therefore, since it is moving away from you, its sound waves are a bit further apart, resulting in a lowered frequency and pitch.

2. Why did Portugal receive Brazil?
Studentka2010 [4]

Answer:

Brazil and Portugal share a privileged relationship,[2] as evidenced in aligned political and diplomatic coordination, as well as economic, social, cultural, legal, technical and scientific cooperation.[3]

According to a 2011 BBC poll, 76% of Portuguese people view Brazil's influence positively, with 8% viewing it negatively, the most favorable perception of Brazil for any other surveyed country in the world.[4]

Is kp or kc larger (both at 300 k) for the reaction 2 nh3(g) ⇀↽ n2(g) + 3 h2(g) ? 1. they are both the same. 2. kc is larger. 3.
fgiga [73]
The equation is 2 NH3 (g) ⇀↽ N2 (g) + 3 H2 (g)
Difference in the number of moles delta n = ((3 + 1) - 2) = 4 - 2 = 2
We have an equation Kp= Kc (R x T) ^ (delta n); R is constant and T = 300 K
Kp / Kc = (R x T) ^2 Based on the temperature value (300 K), we can conclude that Kp is Larger.

When an atom of N-14 is bombarded by an alpha particle, the single product is
puteri [66]

Answer:

¹⁸F₉

Explanation:

  • Alpha particles contain 2 protons and 2 neutrons, that is 4/2.
  • Which mains that the number of protons and neutrons will increase by 2.
  • So, the single product will be ¹⁸F₉.
