The igneous rocks that are characterized by two distinctly different crystal sizes are known as \boxed{{\text{Porphyritic textures}}} .

Further explanation:

The crystal size or texture of igneous rocks is as follows:

1. Glassy texture: Glassy textures are the result of rapid cooling in volcanic rocks. There are very few mineral grains, but the rock mainly consists of volcanic glass or obsidian.

2. Aphanitic textures: Aphanitic textures are formed when volcanic rock cooled rapidly but allowed to form some crystal. These crystals are very small and cannot be able to see with naked eyes. The surface of these rocks is smooth but dull.

3. Fine-Grained textures: Fine-Grained textures are formed when the rock is crystallized but the individual crystals or grains are very small.

4. Porphyritic textures: These textures are the most common one in the volcanic rocks. These porphyritic textures consist of larger grains also called phenocrysts which are embedded in a fine-grained groundmass. Phenocrysts are crystallized when magma was still deep underground and then surrounded by the groundmass.

5. Pyroclastic textures: These textures result from the fusion of solid volcanic ejecta that has been welded into solid

6. Coarse-Grained textures: These textures are from slow cooling, and they are mostly larger crystals.

Therefore, the igneous rocks that are characterized by two distinctly different crystal sizes are known as porphyritic textures.

The specific heat of a certain type of cooking oil is 1.75 J/(g⋅°C). How much heat energy is needed to raise the temperature of
Mademuasel [1]

Answer:

\large \boxed{\textbf{609 kJ}}

Explanation:

The formula for the heat absorbed is

q = mCΔT

Data:

m = 2.07 kg

T₁ = 23 °C

T₂ = 191 °C

C = 1.75 J·°C⁻¹g⁻¹

Calculations:

1. Convert kilograms to grams

2.07 kg = 2070 g

2. Calculate ΔT

ΔT = T₂ - T₁ = 191 - 23  = 168 °C

3. Calculate q

q = \text{2070 g} \times 1.75 \text{ J$^{\circ}$C$^{-1}$g$^{-1}$} \times 168 \,^{\circ}\text{C} = \text{609 000 J} = \textbf{609 kJ}\\\text{The heat energy required is }\large \boxed{\textbf{609 kJ}}

If a gas has a volume of 1000 ML at a temperature of 23°C and a pressure of 100 mmhg, what is it’s volume under standard conditi
Colt1911 [192]

Answer:

119.7 mL.

Explanation:

  • From the general law of ideal gases:

<em>PV = nRT.</em>

where, P is the pressure of the gas.

V is the volume of the container.

n is the no. of moles of the gas.

R is the general gas constant.

T is the temperature of the gas (K).

  • For the same no. of moles of the gas at two different (P, V, and T):

<em>P₁V₁/T₁ = P₂V₂/T₂.</em>

  • P₁ = 100.0 mmHg, V₁ = 1000.0 mL, T₁ = 23°C + 273 = 296 K.
  • P₂ = 1.0 atm = 760.0 mmHg (standard P), V₂ = ??? mL, T₂ = 0.0°C + 273 = 273.0 K (standard T).

<em>∴ V₂ = (P₁V₁T₂)/(T₁P₂) </em>= (100.0 mmHg)(1000.0 mL)(273.0 K)/(296 K)(760.0 mmHg) =  121.4 <em>mL.</em>
