In an acidic solution, how does the concentration of H3O+ compare to the concentration of OH- ?

Chemistry

Answer:

In an acidic solution i.e pH is lower than 7 has higher concentration of hydronium ions compare to the hydroxide ions.

Explanation:

Acidic solutions are those solutions which have pH value less than 7.

Alkaline solutions are those solution which has pH more than 7.

Neutral solutions are those solution which has pH value equal to 7.

The pH of the solution is defined as negative logarithm of hydronium ion concentration present in an aqueous solution .

pH=-\log[H_3O^+]

pH\propto \frac{1}{[H_3O^+]}

 • Higher pH value indicates that hydronium ions present in the solution are less than the hydroxide ions.
 • Lower pH value indicates that hydronium ions present in the solution are more than the hydroxide ions.

So, in an acidic solution i.e pH is lower than 7 has higher concentration of hydronium ions compare to the hydroxide ions.

True or false the si in sih4 does not follow the octet rule because hydrogen is in an unusual oxidation stat
ExtremeBDS [4]
The statement is true. The octet rule refers to the general rule of thumb wherein atoms of main-group elements tend to bond with other atoms in such a way that each atom possesses eight electrons (octet) in their valence shell. They tend to form the same electronic configuration as the noble gases. However, there are some exceptions to this rule. One of which is silane, SiH₄. A hydrogen atom only has 1 valence electron and needs another electron to complete its energy level. This is unlike other atoms, for example, carbon which has 4 valence electrons and needs to form 4 covalent bonds to fill its energy levels. Thus, 4 hydrogen atoms need only 4 more electrons. This is given by the silicon atom which has 4 valence electrons. Therefore, when a silicon atom is bonded to 4 hydrogen atoms, the resulting molecule, SiH₄, is a stable one.

How do molecules make up cells?

Plz help ASAP
IceJOKER [234]

Answer:

They contain atoms that combine together to form molecules. In multicellular organisms, such as animals, molecules can interact to form cells that combine to form tissues, which make up organs. ... All atoms contain protons, electrons, and neutrons.

The alkali metals play virtually the same general chemical role in all their reactions. (b) How is it based on atomic properties
vfiekz [6]

b) It is based on atomic properties as alkali metals requires 7 more electrons to complete their outer orbit. And they try to give those electrons to other elements to obtain noble gas configuration.

Noble gases are the gases which do not react easily with anything. They are also called as Inert gases, and belongs to group 18 of the periodic table.

Alkali metals are the substances which are found in Group I of a periodic table. Mostly the elements which are present are:

 • Lithium (Li)
 • Sodium (Na)
 • Potassium (K)
 • Rubidium (Rb)
 • Cesium (Cs)
 • Francium (Fr)

Properties of alkali metals are: Soft, shiny reactive metals. They are soft enough to cut with knife. Metals react with water and air quickly and gets tarnish, so pure metals are stored in container by dipping them in oil to prevent oxidation.
