Answer:

The second ball moves with 0.83 m/s forward.

Explanation:

Given;

mass of the first ball, m₁ = 3 kg

initial velocity of the first ball, u₁ = 5 m/s

final velocity of the first ball, v₁ = 2.5 m/s

mass of the second ball, m₂ = 9kg

initial velocity of the second ball, u₂ = 0

final velocity of the second ball, v₂ = ?

From the principle of conservation of linear momentum;

m₁u₁ + m₂u₂ = m₁v₁ + m₂v₂

(3x5) + (9x0) = (3x2.5) + (9v₂)

15 = 7.5 + 9v₂

15 - 7.5 = 9v₂

9v₂ = 7.5

v₂ = 7.5/9

v₂ = 0.83 m/s

The second ball moves with 0.83 m/s forward.

You are crouched at the "start" line. Bang! The race begins and 7 seconds later you end up 60 yards down the track. What was you
Nutka1998 [239]

Answer:

a = 7.35 ft / s²

Explanation:

For this exercise we must use the kinematics relations

        x = v₀ t + ½ a t²

as the runner leaves the starting line his initial velocity is zero

        x = ½ a t²

        a = \frac{2x}{t^2}

let's reduce the distance to foot

        x = 60 yd (3ft / 1yd) = 180 ft

let's calculate

         a = 2 180 / 7²

         a = 7.35 ft / s²

Let's begin by determining the equilibrium position of a seesaw pivot. You and a friend play on a seesaw.Your mass is____
expeople1 [14]

Answer:

1.2 m from the left end

Explanation:

M = mass of the person = 90 kg

m  = mass of friend = 60 kg

r  = distance of pivot from the person or from the left end

L  = length of the seesaw board = 3.0 m

s  = distance of pivot from the friend or from right end = L - r = 3 - r

Using equilibrium of torque about the pivot

M g r = m g s\\(90) r = (60) (3 - r)\\90 r = 180 - 60 r\\90 r + 60 r = 180 \\150 r = 180 \\r = 1.2

Why does a compass work differently on a moon then it would on earth
pogonyaev

A compass would work differently on the moon than the Earth because Earth's magnetic field is between 25,000 and 65,000 NanoTeslas. Whereas, the Moons magnetic field is about 2,500-6,500 and some parts of the moon have nonexistent magnetic fields.

I start going 10 m/sIf I slow down at 2 m/s/s how far will I go before I stop
klasskru [66]

Answer:

25 m

Explanation:

Given:

v₀ = 10 m/s

v = 0 m/s

a = -2 m/s²

Find: Δx

v² = v₀² + 2aΔx

(0 m/s)² = (10 m/s)² + 2 (-2 m/s²) Δx

Δx = 25 m
