Which one of the following statements is true? The internal energy of a system will not chage if there is no heat exchange betwe

en the system and its surroundings. The enthalpy of a reaction is always negative if more bonds are broken than formed in the reaction. The entropy of the Universe is always constant. The entropy of the universe is always increased in a spontaneous process. For a spontaneous process the enthalpy is always negative.

Answer:

The statement d) is true: The entropy of the universe is always increased in a spontaneous process.

Explanation:

a), b), c) and e) are false.

a) When no heat exchange occurs between the system and its surroundings , this process is called an adiabatic process. Because the system does work on the surroundings, w is a negative quantity and there is a decrease in the system’s internal energy (since it cannot exchange heat, it will have to use its internal energy to do work).

b) Breaking a bond will always require energy, whereas forming a bond releases energy. Therefore, if more bonds are broken than formed, the enthalpy of a reaction will be positive.

c) The second law of thermodynamics states that the entropy of the universe increases in a spon taneous process and remains unchanged in an equilibrium process. Therefore, the entropy of the universe is not always constant.

d) True.

e) According to the Gibbs equation, if ΔH is negative and ΔS is negative, then ΔG will be negative only when TΔS is smaller in magnitude than ΔH. This condition is met when T is small.

You were making a cream based sauce for your pasta and decided to add some freshly canned tomatoes to the sauce. It tasted fine,
soldier1979 [14.2K]

Answer & explanation:

Canned fruits and vegetables generally have a high acidity and salinity content, in order to prevent the product from spoiling, in addition to enhancing its flavor.

The cream-based sauce started to curdle due to the acidity present in the canned tomatoes.

By lowering the pH of dairy products, a protein in them called casein begins to clot. It is this clotting of the casein that causes the cream-based sauce to curdle.

Which of the four cars had the least net force applied to it when it was launched down the ramp
castortr0y [4]

The least net force applied : Car 3(12 N)

Further explanation

Newton's 2nd law explains that the acceleration produced by the resultant force on an object is proportional and in line with the resultant force and inversely proportional to the mass of the object

∑F = m. a

Car 1 ⇒m=0.5 kg, a=36 m/s²

\tt \sum F=0.5\times 36=18~N

Car 2⇒m=0.8 kg, a=50 m/s²

\tt \sum F=0.8\times 50=40~N

Car 3⇒m=0.6, a=20 m/s²

\tt \sum F=0.6\times 20=12~N

Car 4⇒m=1, a=19~m/s²

\tt \sum=1\times 19=19~N
