Sometime around 2022, astronomers at the European Southern Observatory hope to begin using the E-ELT(European Extremely Large Te

lescope), which is planned to have a primary mirror 42 m in diameter. Let us assume that the light it focuses has a wavelength of 600 nm. (1 light-year = 9.461×1015 m) Note: Jupiter's Diameter dj=1.43×108 m 1) What is the most distant Jupiter-sized planet the telescope could resolve, assuming it operates at the diffraction limit? (Express your answer to two significant figures.)

Answer:

8.2\times 10^{15}\ m

Explanation:

\lambda = Wavelength = 600 nm

d = Diameter of mirror = 42 m

D = Distance of object

x = Diameter of Jupiter = 1.43\times 10^8\ m

Angular resoulution is given by

\Delta\theta=1.22\frac{\lambda}{d}\\\Rightarrow \Delta\theta=1.22\frac{600\times 10^{-9}}{42}\\\Rightarrow \Delta\theta=1.74286\times 10^{-8}\ rad

We also have the relation

\Delta\theta\approx=\frac{x}{D}\\\Rightarrow D\approx\frac{x}{\Delta\theta}\\\Rightarrow D\approx\frac{1.43\times 10^8}{1.74286\times 10^{-8}}\\\Rightarrow D\approx 8.2049\times 10^{15}\ m

The most distant Jupiter-sized planet the telescope could resolve is 8.2\times 10^{15}\ m

The satellites launch rockets to generate the force required to keep an orbit all around space station circular. The continuous centripetal force is maintained by the centripetal force.

<h3>What is a good illustration of gravity?</h3>

<h3>What makes anything gravitational?</h3>

Our term gravity and more specific derivation gravitation are derived from a Latin word gravity, from gravis, which itself is derived from a much older root word that is considered to have existed due to multiple cognates in closely related languages.

HURRY PEASE what happens to current when there is a diode on the circuit and why?
kolbaska11 [484]

Answer:

The current can't 'split down the parallel branch, because the diode is reverse biased so is blocking the flow of current. So basically it's acting as an open circuit. Also when the current flows it wouldn't reduce the currents amount flow through the resistor.

What combination of things happen on earth that helps make wind, and the weather on earth? (Please list at least two factors, an
Westkost [7]

Answer:

There are six main components, or parts, of weather. They are <u>temperature, atmospheric pressure, wind, humidity, precipitation, and cloudiness</u>. Together, these components describe the weather at any given time. These changing components, along with the knowledge of atmospheric processes, help meteorologists—scientists who study weather—forecast what the weather will be in the near future.
