Poached eggs are cooked in bath of boiling water at 100°C. Over time they reach thermal equilibrium with the bath. They are then

quickly removed from the boiling water and placed in ice water at 0°C to stop the cooking process. Assume the eggs are perfect spheres with a diameter of 4 cm, a thermal conductivity of 2 W/mK, and a thermal diffusivity of 1e^-6 m^2/s. It is very important that the temperature within the eggs remains spatially uniform during the cooling process.
a) Find the maximum heat transfer coefficient of the ice bath that is allowable.b) Assuming the heat transfer coefficient found in (a) is used. Find the eggs should remain in the ice bath to cool them to 75°C.

Under the right conditions, it is possible, due to surface tension, to have metal objects float on water. Consider placing a sho
stiv31 [10]

Answer:

D = 0.060732 in

Explanation:

given data

sp. wt. = 500 lb/ft³

diameter = 0.036 in

solution

we get here maximum diameter of rod that is express as

D = \sqrt{\frac{8 \sigma }{\pi y}}   ......................1

here \sigma surface tension of water at 60⁰f  = 5.03 × 10^{-3}  lb/ft and y = 500 lb/ft³

so put here value and we will get

D = \sqrt{\frac{8 \times 5.03 \times 10^{-3} }{\pi \times 500}}

D = 0.005061 ft

D = 0.060732 in

mars1129 [50]

Answer:

This shows that the technological designs are similar to the scientific investigation processes.

Explanation:

Scientists carry out scientific investigations and discoveries. They learn from their environment by investigating the natural world. The scientist investigates by problem identification, research the related information, designing and conceptualizing, investigating and analyzing the results and deriving out conclusions.

Similarly the engineers follow the same step and provide solutions to the problems of the society through their products and technological designs. The engineers first identify the need of the product, design and implement the design to provide solution and then evaluate the solution. These are the similar steps that an engineer follow in a technological design of a product or a solution.
