The electrical & magnetic fields are at the 90 degree i.e at the right angles to the way the wave travels. The electric field oscillates back and forth in one plane while the magnetic field oscillates back and forth in a perpendicular plane;

All electromagnetic waves are created by accelerated charges, and the electromagnetic force follows the inverse-square law; the magnitude of the force declines as one above the squared source distance.

A = log (Io / I)

A = log (1 / 0.90)

A = 0.046

 

So the absorbance should be from 0.046 to 1

 

3. at 10% transmittance = 0.10

A = log (Io / I)

A = log (1 / 0.10)
