Calculate the molar volume occupied by 1 mole of N2 using the van der Waals equation in the form of virial expansion at (a) its
dimulka [17.4K]

Answer:

Explanation:

Given that:

Pressure P = 10 atm

number of moles of N_2 = 1 mole

correction for the attractive force between molecule a = 1.352

correction for the volume of molecules  b = 0.0387 L mol-1

Rate = 8.314

critical Temperature Tc= 126.3 K

Using van deer Waal equation:

(p+ \dfrac{n^2a}{V^2} ) (V-nb)=nRT

So for 1 mole of N_2 gas; we have

(p+ \dfrac{a}{V^2} ) (V-b)=RT

(10+ \dfrac{1.352}{V^2} ) (V-0.0387)=8.314 \times 126.3

Recall that: Tc = \dfrac{ 8a}{27Rb}

and

Pc=\dfrac{a}{27b^2}

Vc = 3b

Thus;

Vc= 3×(0.0387)

Vc  = 0.1161m³

using the above Van der Waal equation, the value of V can also be determined, but in several situations, we abandon the term of (V - nb) and sometimes abandon (p+n^2*\dfrac{a}{V^2}) depending on the circumstances.

What is the hydrophobic effect? what types of atoms are most likely to be found in portions of molecules or entire molecules tha
HACTEHA [7]
Hydrophobic in simple terms is the "fear" of water.

In chemistry, Ionic salts are technically hydrophilic as they will dissolve in water.
most fats and oils or triesters won't why?

salts are made from ions and their structure contain polar bonds Na+ and Cl-
Fats and oils tend to not have these.

Fats and oils contain many carbon covalent bonds which are non-polar which tend to make the molecule non-polar as a whole, therefore, it can't dissolve in water and is said to be hydrophobic.

Hope that heps :)
NB included a diagram to help.

A chemical reaction produces 653 550 kj of energy as heat in 142.3min. calculate the rate of energy transferred in kj per minute
miskamm [114]

We have the value of

Total energy produced in the chemical reaction=653 550 KJ

Time needed=142.3min

To calculate the rate of energy transfer, that is the amount of energy produced per minute.

Rate of energy transfer=\frac{Total energy produced}{Time needed}

=\frac{653 550}{142.3}

=4592.76 KJ min⁻¹

So, the rate of energy transfer is 4592.76 KJ min⁻¹.
