Answer:

Three Na atom(s) each lose one electron, forming three Na+ ions. One N atom gains three electrons, forming a N^-3 ion. The ions attract, forming Na3N

Explanation:

Three Na atom(s) each lose one electron, forming three Na+ ions. One N atom gains three electrons, forming a N^-3 ion. The ions attract, forming Na3N.

Ionic bond:

It is the bond which is formed by the transfer of electron from one atom to the atom of another element.

Both bonded atoms have very large electronegativity difference. The atom with large electronegativity value accept the electron from other with smaller value of electronegativity.

For example:

Na₃N is ionic compound. The electronegativity of is 3.04 and for sodium is 0.93. There is large difference is present. That's why electron from sodium is transfer to the nitrogen. Sodium becomes positive and nitrogen becomes negative ion.

One nitrogen atom required three electrons to complete the octet while sodium have one valance electron that's why three sodium atoms combine with one nitrogen atom.

A ball has a volume of 9.0 liters and is subjected to a pressure of 3.5 atmospheres when its temperature is 74 °C. According to
vodka [1.7K]
To determine the number of moles of the gas, we need to relate moles to pressure, temperature and volume. To simplify things, we assume the gas is ideal so we use the ideal gas equation PV=nRT.

PV = nRT
n = PV / RT
n = 3.5 (9.0) / 0.08205 (74+273.15)
n = 1.1059 mol

Which of the following reactions could be used to power a battery because of the transfer of electrons?
Trava [24]

Answer is: Zn + Cu2+ → Zn2+ + Cu.

In this chemical reaction, there is transfer of electrons from zinc (Zn) to copper (Cu). Zinc change oxidation number from 0 to +2 (lost electrons) and copper change oxidation number from +2 to 0 (gain electrons).

Oxidation half reaction: Zn⁰ → Zn²⁺ + 2e⁻.

Reduction half reaction: Cu²⁺ + 2e⁻ → Cu⁰.

In other chemical reactions, there is no change of oxidation number of elements.

How many significant figures are in the measurement 40,500 mg?
schepotkina [342]

b) three

this is because all integers are sig figs, and all numbers between integers are sig figs. This makes the 40,5 part of 40,500 significant. Place holder zeroes that are not after a decimal are not significant, so the last two zeroes of the number are not significant.
