Given Information:

Static Pressure = P = 1 atm

Temperature = T = 70°F

Velocity = v = 150 mi/hr

Required formation:

Pressure of Pilot Tube = P₀ = ?

Answer:

Pressure of Pilot Tube = P₀ = 2172.36 lb/ft²

Solution:

Units Conversion:

(1 atm = 2116.22 lb/ ft²)

Static Pressure = P = 1 atm = 2116.22 lb/ft²

 (1° F = 459.67° R)

Temperature = T = 70°F = 70 + 459.67 = 529.67° R

( 1mi/hr = 1.467 ft/sec)

Velocity = v = 150 mi/hr = 220 ft/sec

Density of Test Section

Density = ρ = P/RT

Where R is the idea gas constant 1717 (ft-lbf/slug-°R)

ρ = 2116.22/1717*529.67 = 0.00232 slug/ft³

Pressure of Pilot Tube

P₀ = P + (1/2)*ρ*v²

P₀ = 2116.22 + (1/2)*0.00232*220²

P₀ = 2172.36 lb/ft²

A heating system must maintain the interior of a building at TH = 20 °C when the outside temperature is TC = 2 °C. If the rate o
nasty-shy [4]

Answer:

a)Q_H=16.4kW

b) w=5.467

c)  w=1.2345

Explanation:

From the question we are told that:

Interior temperature TH = 20 °C

outside temperature is TC = 2 °C

Rate H=16.4kW

a)

Generally electric resistance heating is the heat transfer from interior building

Therefore

Q_H=R

Q_H=16.4kW

b)

COP =3

Generally the equation for coefficient of performance is mathematically given by

COP=\frac{Q_H}{w}

Therefore

w=\frac{Q_H}{COP}

w=16.4/3

w=5.467

c)

Generally the equation for coefficient of performance is mathematically given by

COP_r=\frac{TH}{TH-TC}

COP_r=\frac{20+273}{(20+273)-(2+273)}

COP_r=16.2

Therefore

w=1.2345

w=20/16.2

w=1.2345

Atmospheric pressure is measured to be 14.769 psia. a. What would be the equivalent reading of a water barometer (inches of H20)
Fofino [41]

Answer:

(a) water height =408.66 in.

(b) mercury height=30.04 in.

Explanation:

Given: P=14.769 psi     ( 1 psi= 6894.76 \frac{N}{m^2} )

we know that   P=\rho\times g\timesh

where \rho =Density,g=9.81\frac{m}{s^2}

     h=height.

Given that P=14.769 psi ⇒P= 101828.6 7\dfrac{N}{m^2}

(a) P=\rho_{w}\times g\times h_{w}

     \rho_{w}=1000\frac{Kg}{m^3}

⇒101828.67=1000\times 9.81\times h_{w}

h_{w}=10.38 m

So water barometer will read 408.66 in.            (1 m=39.37 in)

(b)  P=\rho_{hg}\times g\times h_{hg}

     \rho_{hg}=13600

So 101828.67=13600\times 9.81\times h_{hg}

h_{hg}=0.763 m

So mercury barometer will read 30.04 in.
