Water flowing through a 10-cm-diameter water pipe at a rate of 0.1 m3/s. Now a diffuser with an outlet diameter of 20 cm is bolt

ed to the pipe in order to slow down water. The inlet side of the pipe is part of a continuous piping system( so that the pressure may not be atmospheric), but the outlet is discharging water to the atmosphere. Disregarding the frictional effects, determine the force exerted on the bolts due to the water flow?
I saw many answers and they solve for Bernoulli equation and they find the gage pressure to be positive and the final answer to be 1551N. and I solve for gage pressure to be negative and find the last answer to be 364.3 N

Explain difference in appearance between a pure substance and a mixture.
Nata [24]

A pure substance is a substance which cannot be separated physically or chemically. It is the same wherever found on earth. For example, pure gold is a pure substance. It will be the same whether it is found where you live or on another country. A mixture can be either homogeneous or heterogeneous. A homogeneous mixture is a mixture that looks the same throughout but is made of more than one element. An example of this would be salt and water mixture. A heterogeneous mixture is a mixture in which you can easily identify the different parts which make it up. An example of this would be pizza. Both these mixtures can be broken into different parts either physically or chemically.

Hope it helps :)

When you see or visit grasslands, what do you know about the climate? (Select all that apply.)
Nana76 [90]

When you see or visit grasslands you know that :

 • They have mild to hot summers ( B )
 • They have a lot of precipitation ( A )

Grassland vegetation

Grasslands are a type of vegetation found mostly in areas with favourable weather conditions such as mild summers and right amount of precipitation which provides the grasslands with enough water for proper growth.

Other types of vegetation include :

 • Forest vegetation
 • Tundra and
 • Desert vegetation

Desert vegetation expreciences very hot summers and little precipitation which leads to the scarcity of green vegetation, while forest vegetation expreciences a very high level of precipitation.

Hence we can conclude that When you see or visit grasslands you know that :They have mild to hot summers ,They have a lot of precipitation

When a metal reacts with a nonmetal, the metal will...
Svet_ta [14]

Answer : The correct option is, (a) lose electrons and form a positive ion

Explanation :

Metals : These are the elements that easily loose electrons and forms cations.

They require less energy to loose electrons because electrons are loosely bound to the nucleus.

Non-metals : These are the elements that easily gain electrons to form an anion.

They require more energy to loose electrons because the electrons are tightly bound to the nucleus.

As per question, when a metal reacts with a nonmetal, the metal will lose electrons and form a positive ion and non-metal gain electrons and form a negative ion.

Hence, the correct option is, (a)

Iodine would have chemical properties most like -
MaRussiya [10]
Iodine would have chemical properties most like H. chlorine.
They would have similar chemical properties because they belong to the same group in the periodic system of elements, unlike manganese, tellurium, and xenon. To see which group these belong to, just look at the periodic system vertically.
