An object is given a very small amount of charge. Which of the following could
spayn [35]

5.4*10^-19 C

Explanation:

For the purposes of this question, charges essentially come in packages that are the size of an electron (or proton since they have the same magnitude of charge). The charge on an electron is -1.6*10^-19

Therefore, any object should have a charge that is a multiple of the charge of an electron - It would not make sense to have a charge equivalent to 1.5 electrons since you can't exactly split the electron in half. So the charge of any integer number of electrons can be transferred to another object.

Charge = q(electron)*n(#electrons)

Since 5.4/1.6 = 3.375, we know that it can not be the right answer because the answer is not an integer.

If you divide every other option listed by the charge of an electron, you will get an integer number.

(16*10^-19 C)/(1.6*10^-19C) = 10

(-6.4*10^-19 C)/(1.6*10^-19C) = -4

(4.8*10^-19 C)/(1.6*10^-19C) = 3

(5.4*10^-19 C)/(1.6*10^-19C) = 3.375

(3.2*10^-19C)/(1.6*10^-19C) = 2

etc.

I hope this helps!

How does NaOH form a basic solution when it dissolves in water
Lubov Fominskaja [6]
It decomposes into CH3COO- and H+ when dissolved in water. The H+ ions react with the water molecules to generate H3O+, making the solution acidic. When NaOH is added to water, it separates into Na+ and OH-. The sodiums have little effect on the solution, but the hydroxyls make it more basic.

A 50 kg astronaut floating in space throws her 2 kg wrench to the left at 10
Hoochie [10]

The astronaut will move at 0.4 m/s in the opposite direction to the wrench

Explanation:

We can solve this problem by using the law of conservation of momentum. In fact, the total momentum of the astronaut-wrench system must be conserved before and after the launch.

Before the launch, the total momentum is zero, since the astronaut is at rest:

p = 0 (1)

After the launch, the total momentum is:

p=mv+MV (2)

where :

m = 2 kg is the mass of the wrench

v = 10 m/s is the velocity of the wrench

M = 50 kg is the mass of the astronaut

V is the recoil velocity of the astronaut

Since momentum is conserved, we can write (1) = (2), and so we can solve for V:

0=mv+MV\\V=-\frac{mv}{M}=-\frac{(2)(10)}{50}=-0.4 m/s

And the negative sign means that the astronaut will move in the opposite direction to the wrench.

PLEASE HELP! 2ND TIME I ASKED THIS!!!
Goshia [24]

The train is moving at 50 m/s and Emma is walking down the aisle with 1 m/s speed in the same direction of train. The relative velocity of Emma with respect to other passengers pf the train would be 1 m/s. This is because, the train is not moving relative to them and only emma is moving at 1 m/s. If a person observes from outside, Emma would have (50 +1) m/s = 51 m/s velocity.

relative velocity when two objects are moving in same direction as oberved from outside observer:

v_{ab}=v_a+v_b

relative velocity when two objects are moving in the opposite directionas oberved from outside observer:

v_{ab}=v_a-v_b
