2. A large pack of snow of mass m sits at the top of a trail at a ski resort. Friction keeps the snow pack in place, but when it

starts to get hotter out the coefficient of friction changes and the snow will slide down the mountain in an avalanche. If the slope of the trail is at an angle θ with respect to the ground, what is the coefficient of static friction when the avalanche occurs, in terms of the given variables and any known constants?

Answer:

tanΘ

Explanation:

Let gravitational acceleration be g. When the avalanche starts to occur, the gravity force that is parallel to the slope is the same as friction force.

Gravity force that is parallel to the slope can be written as:

G = mgsinΘ

The friction force is the product of normal force and coefficient:

F_f = N\mu

where normal force N is the gravity in the direction perpendicular to the slope

F_f = \mu mgcos\theta

As stated before, gravity force that is parallel to the slope is the same as friction force:

G = F_f

mgsin\theta = \mu mgcos\theta

\mu = sin\theta / cos\theta = tan\theta

Which statement is not a good practice when working inside a computer case?
lozanna [386]

Answer:

a. be sure to hold expansion cards by the edge connectors

Explanation:

Removal of loose jewelry is a good safety practice. Also not touching a microchip with a magnetized screwdriver is also a good practice.

But holding expansion cards by the edge connectors is not a good practice, so it is the odd one in the question. Therefore answer option a provides the correct and best answer to the question

How do determine which is Y2, Y1, X2, and X1 on a graph.

And how do find rise over run.
fredd [130]
One point will be X1,Y1 and the other will be X2,Y2. It does not matter which is which except that X1 and Y1 have to be the same point and X2 and Y2 have to be the same point. For example, let's say you were given (2,3) and (6,8). No matter which point is X1,Y1 and the other is X2,Y2, the slope will still be 5/4.

The rise is the change in y from one point to the other. The run would be the change in x from one point to the other.

If 8.65 g of a tin - fluorine compound contains 5.28 g of tin, what is its empirical formula?
allsm [11]
First, we need to know the amounts of the elements in the compound.

Tin (Sn)= 5.28 g
Fluorine (F) = 8.65 - 5.28 = 3.37 g

Convert these to units of moles by dividing the molar masses.

Tin (Sn)= 5.28 g / 118.71 g/mol = 0.044 mol
Fluorine (F) = 3.37 g / 19.00 g/mol = 0.177 mol

Divide both by the least number of moles of the two.

Tin (Sn)= 0.044 mol / 0.044 mol = 1
Fluorine (F) = 0.177 mol / 0.044 mol = 4

Therefore, the empirical formula would be:
SnF4
