Answer:

length of the Steel beam = 39.00327 m

Explanation:

Linear expansivity(∝) of a metal : Is defined as an increase in length per unit length for one degree rise in temperature.

It is express mathematically as

∝= (L₁-L₂)/(L₁ΔT)........................ Equation 1

∴ L₂ = L₁ + (1 + ∝ΔT)....................... Equation 2

Where ∝ = linear expansivity of the metal ( K⁻¹), L₁ = Initial length (m), L₂ = Final length ( m )

  L₁- L₂ =  ΔL = Change in length of the metal ( m )

  ΔT = T₂ - T₁ ( K )

∴ L₂ = L₁ + (1 + ∝ΔT)....................... Equation 2

The linear expansivity of steel = 11 × 10⁻⁶ ( K⁻¹),

L₁ = 38.00 m , ΔT = 87 - 11 = 76 °F

Conversion

°F to Kelvin =  K = 5/9 (° F - 32) + 273

T(K) = 5/9 (76-32) + 273

T(K) = 5/9(44) + 273

T (K) = 297.44 K

substituting these values into equation 2

L₂ = 38 + (1 + {11×10⁻⁶× 297.44})

L₂ = 38 + (1 + 0.00327)

L₂ = 38 + (1.00327)

L₂ = 39.00327 m.

Therefore, length of the Steel beam = 39.00327 m

A greater applied force is required to move an object with a greater mass than one with a smaller mass.
4vir4ik [10]

Answer:

True

Explanation:

The bigger an object is, the more force you must apply to move the object. Think about it like moving a mouse compared to moving an elephant. You can't move the elephant by yourself, because you don't have enough strength or force to move it. But, you can easily pick up a mouse, because it requires less force, or strength. Hope this helped :)

You are a visitor aboard the New International Space Station, which is in a circular orbit around the Earth with an orbital spee
Alchen [17]

Answer:

The minimum total speed is 11.2km/s

Explanation:

We are been asked to find the escape velocity.

Escape velocity is defined as the minimum initial velocity that will take a body(projectile)away above the surface of a planet(earth) when it's projected vertically upwards.

The formula to calculate the escape velocity is Ve = √2gR

For the earth g = 9.8m/s2 , R = 6.4*10^6

Substituting into the equation Ve = √2*9.8*6.4*10^6 = 11.2*10^3m/s

=11.2km/s

What is the inverse square law and how does it relate to gravity?
Nesterboy [21]

Answer:

Inverse Square Law Newton proposed the Inverse Square Law. The effect of gravity (and also on forces such as sunlight) works like this. If say we have a half-mass Earth, it would produce a gravity of not half but a quarter (the square of 2).

A spring required a force of 5.0 n to compress it 0.1 m. how much work is required to stretch the spring 0.4 m
lions [1.4K]

Answer:

20N

Explanation:

The force (Hooke's Law) is proportional to the deformation. To extend the spring 4 times longer, you will need 4 times the force. In total, 20 N
