Answer: 2 moles of water.

Explanation:

C_3H_8+5O_2\rightarrow 3CO_2+4H_2O

Given moles:

moles of oxygen = 2.5

moles of C_3H_8 = 4.6

According to stoichiometry:

5 moles of oxygen reacts with = 1 mole of propane

Thus 2.5 moles of oxygen will react with = \frac{1}{5}\times 2.5=0.5 moles of oxygen

Thus propane is the limiting reagent as it limits the formation of products and oxygen is the excess reagent.

As 1 mole of propane produce = 4 moles of water

0.5 mole of propane will produce =\frac{4}{1}\times 0.5=2moles of water

Thus 2 moles of water are produced.

A compound has the formula X2O3 where x is an unknown element. If the compound is 24.26% oxygen, what element does x represent?
Vinil7 [7]

Answer:

Element X is Arsenic (Ar)

Explanation:

We are given the compound X₂O₃

The compound is 24.26% Oxygen

We are required to identify element X

Step 1: Determine the mass of Oxygen in the compound

Atomic mass of Oxygen is 16.0 g

There are three oxygen atoms in the compound

Therefore;

Mass of oxygen in the compound = 3 × 16

                                                        = 48 g

Step 2: Total mass of the compound

Total percentage = 100%

But, Oxygen in the compound is 24.26 % and has a mass of 48 g

Therefore;

Mass of the compound = (48 g ÷ 24.26 ) × 100

                                      = 197.857 g

Step 3 mass of X in the compound

Since we know the mass of oxygen in the compound and the mass of the compound we can determine the mass of X

Mass of X in the compound = Mass of the compound - Mass of Oxygen in the compound

                                               = 197.857 g - 48 g

                                               = 149.857 g

But there are two atoms of X in the compound.

Therefore, molar mass of X = 149.857 g ÷ 2

                                             = 74.929 g

Step 4: Identity of element X

We then we need to identify the element with a molar mass of 74.929 g

Therefore, the element represented above is Arsenic which has an atomic mass of 74.92.

Thus, our compound is Ar₂O₃

Explain how you could use the solubility of a substance to make a saturated solution.
dlinn [17]
A saturated solution is prepared by continuously adding solute to the solution until a stage is reached where the solute appears as a solid precipitate or as crystals to form a highly saturated solution. Consider the process of adding table sugar to a container of water.

An element has an atomic number of 76. The number of protons and electrons in a neutral atom of the element are ____.
dmitriy555 [2]

Answer:

76 protons 76 electrons

Explanation:

The atomic number in a element is equal to the elements protons and electrons. In this case if the atomic number is 76 the number of protons and electrons would also be 76.

Hope this helps.
