Answer:

Electrons and protons have opposite electric charge. They are present in the same number, but opposite electric charge. ( since the atom is neutral )

Explanation:

if we look at the periodic table we see, for the sodium atom (Na), that the atomic number (Z) is 11. The atomic number is the number of protons. Protons are positive.

Since this sodium atom is neutral, this means that there are the same number of electrons, which are negative. So also 11 electrons.

Electrons and protons have opposite electric charge.

Following the formula A = Z + N

Here is A = atomic mass, and is the sum of protons ( same as electrons ) + neutrons

As we can see on the periodic table the atomic mass of Sodium(Na) is 23

23 = 11 + N ⇔ N = 23 -11 = 12 neutrons

Answer: 11 Electrons

Explanation: This is because a neutral atom has the same number of protons and electrons.

What is the mole ratio needed to determine the mass of phosphorus trifluoride produced from the reaction of 120 g of phosphorus
Vitek1552 [10]

Answer:

\frac{4molPF_3}{1molP_4}

Explanation:

Hello

In this case, given the reaction:

P_4(s)+6F_2(g)\rightarrow 4PF_3(g)

It means that since the coefficients preceding phosphorous and phosphorous trifluoride are 1 and 4, the correct mole ratio should be:

\frac{4molPF_3}{1molP_4}

Because given the mass of phosphorous it is convenient to convert it to moles and then cancel it out with the moles on bottom of the mole ratio.

Bes regards!

A graduated cylinder has 65 mL of water at 25 oC. When 45.0 g of an unknow solid is dropped into the graduated cylinder, the liq
inysia [295]

Answer:

4.17 g/mL

Explanation:

In order to determine the density of the solid, we need to know both its mass and its volume.

The mass is already given to us by the problem, 45.0 g.

As for the volume, we can determine it by using Archimedes' principle. It states that the volume of water displaced by an object when submerged is equal to the object's volume.

 • Water displaced = 75.8 mL - 65 mL = 10.8 mL

Finally we calculate the density of the solid:

 • Density = mass / volume = 45.0 g / 10.8 mL
 • Density = 4.17 g/mL

11. 2073 Set D Q.No. 1 Ammonia molecule has got trigonal
Nikolay [14]

Answer:

See explanation

Explanation:

I know that we usually associate the sp3 hybridization to the tetrahedral shape. This is common in molecules such as CH4. So it may sound somewhat strange that NH3 molecule has an sp3 hybridized nitrogen atom and a trigonal pyramidal geometry.

Let us recall that the central nitrogen atom in NH3 has a lone pair of electrons. These lone pairs causes more repulsion than bond pairs. As a result of the presence of this lone pair, the bond angle in the NH3 molecule is distorted away from the expected 109.7 degrees in tetrahedral geometry and the bonding groups are now arranged in a trigonal pyramidal geometry(with bond angle less than 109.7 degrees) to minimize electron pair repulsions.
