Cerrena [4.2K]

Answer:

D) 11 m/s

Explanation:

We have to calculate the velocity of the hot dog with respect to the observer still outside the train. This velocity will be given by:

v=v_t + v_m + v_h

where

v_t=+10 m/s is the velocity of the train (towards right)

v_m=+2 m/s is the velocity of the man (towards right)

v_h=-1 m/s is the velocity of the hot-dog (towards left, so we put a negative sign)

By replacing the numbers into the equation, we find

v=+10 m/s+2 m/s-1 m/s=+11 m/s

and the positive sign means the velocity is toward right.

A graduated cylinder contains 62 ml of water. When a small metal block is added to the water, the volume of the water increases
lawyer [7]

Answer:

The density of the block is 7.4g/ml.

Explanation:

We can determine the volume of the metal block by taking the difference between the volumes measured in the graduated cylinder:

V_{block}=65.5ml-62ml\\\\V_{block}=3.5ml

Now, as we know that the average density of an object is calculated dividing its mass by its volume, we can calculate the density ρ of the metal block using the expression:

\rho_{block}=\frac{m_{block}}{V_{block}}\\\\\rho_{block}=\frac{26g}{3.5ml}\\\\\rho_{block}=7.4\frac{g}{ml}

Finally, it means that the density of the metal block is 7.4g/ml.

A 26.3 kg object is traveling at 21.0 m/s north. What average net force is required to bring this object to a stop in 2.60 secon
taurus [48]

The average force is -212.4 N

Explanation:

We can solve this problem by using the impulse theorem, which states that the impulse exerted on the object (the product of the force exerted and the time) is equal to the change in momentum of the object:

F \Delta t = m \Delta v

where

F is the net force on the object

\Delta t is the time

m is the mass

\Delta v is the change in velocity

In this problem, we have:

m = 26.3 kg

\Delta v = -21.0 m/s

\Delta t = 2.60 s

Solving for F, we find

F=\frac{m\Delta v}{\Delta t}=\frac{(26.3)(-21.0)}{2.60}=-212.4 N

where the negative sign indicates that the direction of the force is opposite to the motion of the object.

If earth rotated on an axis that was not tilted, how would this affect the seasons?
VARVARA [1.3K]
If earth was not tilted on a axis, we wouldn't have any seasons. we wouldn't have seasons because the axis tilts us towards or away from the sun, and if you're tilted torwards the sun the sun you would have summer. if you're tilted away from the sun, you have winter. if there was no axis, the temperature would be the same all around the earth, so therefore we would not have seasons.

hopefully this helps
