Two parallel wires separated by 3.55 cm repel each other with a force per unit length of 1.70 10-4 N/m. The current in one wire

is 4.80 A.
(a) Find the current in the other wire.
(b) Are the currents in the same direction or in opposite directions? the same direction opposite directions
(c) What would happen if the direction of one current were reversed and doubled?

Explanation:

Given that,

Distance between two parallel wires, d = 3.55 cm

Force per unit length, F/L=1.7\times 10^{-4}\ N/m

Current in one wire, I = 4.8 A

(a) The force acting per unit length in the wire is given by :

\dfrac{F}{L}=\dfrac{\mu_oI_1I_2}{2\pi d}

Substituting all the values in above formula to find I₂ as:

1.7\times 10^{-4}=\dfrac{4\pi \times 10^{-7}\times 4.8I_2}{2\pi \times 3.55\times 10^{-2}}

I_2=6.28\ A

(b) Since, it is given that the two conductors repel each other, it means that the current is flowing in opposite direction.

(c) If the direction of current is reversed, they will start attracting towards each other and it the one current is doubled, the force per unit length will gets doubled.

A spring with spring constant 11.5 N/m hangs from the ceiling. A 490 g ball is attached to the spring and allowed to come to res
Natalija [7]

Answer:

The time constant is \tau = 17.5 \ s

Explanation:

From the question we are told that

   The spring constant is  k = 11.5 \  N/m

   The mass  of the ball is  m_b  = 490 \ g  = 0.49 \ kg

   The amplitude of the  oscillation t the beginning is x =  6.70 cm = 0.067 \  m

    The amplitude after time t is  x_t = 2.20 cm = 0.022 \  m

    The number of oscillation is N = 30

Generally the time taken to attain the second amplitude is mathematically represented as

       t  = N  *  T                                            Here  T is the period of oscillation

         t = N * 2\pi \sqrt{\frac{m}{k} }

=>     t = 30 * 2 * 3.142 *  \sqrt{\frac{ 0.490}{11.5} }

=>     t = 38.88 \  s

Generally the amplitude at time t is mathematically represented as

         x(t) = x e^{-\frac{at}{2m} }

Here a is the damping  constant so

 at  t = 38.88 \  s ,  x_t = 2.20 cm = 0.022 \  m

So

     0.022 = 0.067 e^{-\frac{a * 38.88}{2 * 0.490} }

=>  0.3284 = e^{-\frac{a * 38.88}{2 * 0.490} }

taking natural log of both sides

=>  ln(0.3284 ) = -\frac{a * 38.88}{2 * 0.490} }

=>   a = 0.028

Generally the time constant is mathematically represented as

    \tau = \frac{m}{a}

=> \tau = \frac{0.490}{  0.028}

=> \tau = 17.5 \ s

At baseball practice, Mason and Alfredo both picked up the same bat and neither would let go until one of them had it for himsel
Illusion [34]

Answer:

Option B. O because the net force was 5 N in Alfredo's direction

Explanation:

To know the the correct answer to the question given above, we shall determine the net force acting on the bat. This can be obtained as follow:

Force of pull by Mason (Fₘ) = 15 N

Force of pull by Alfredo (Fₐ) = 20 N

Net force (Fₙ) =?

Fₙ = 20 – 15

Fₙ = 5 N in Alfredo's direction

From the calculation made above, we can see that the net force is 5N in Alfredo's direction. This is the reason why Alfredo end up having the bat.
