An earth satellite remains in orbit at a distance of 13300 km from the center of the earth. what is its period? the universal gr
iren [92.7K]
Given: Altitude of satellite r = 13,300 Km convert to meter

                                          r = 1.33 x 10⁷ m

Universal Gravitational constant G = 6.67 x 10⁻¹¹ N.m²/Kg²

Mass of the earth Me = 5.98 x 10²⁴ Kg

Required: Period of satellite   T = ?

Formula: F = ma;   Centripetal acceleration ac = V²/r    F = GMeMsat/r²

Velocity of satellite V = 2πr/T

equate T from all given equation.

F = ma

GMeMsat/r² = MsatV²/r  cancel Msat and insert V = 2πr/T

GMe/r² = (2πr)²/rT²  Equate T or period of satellite

T² = 4π²r³/GMe

T² = 39.48(1.33 X 10⁷ m)³/(6.67 x 10⁻¹¹ N.m²/Kg²)(5.98 x 10²⁴ Kg)

T² = 9.29 x 10²² m³/3.99 x 10¹⁴ m³/s²

T² = 232,832,080.2 s²

T = 15,258.84 seconds       or (it can be said around 4.24 Hr)

a water line starts the service with an altitude of 1200m over the sea level, what is the velocity of the water above 1050 m ove
Ilia_Sergeevich [38]

Answer:

Velocity = 94.85m/s

Explanation:

<u>Given the following data ;</u>

Height = 1200m

Vertical distance = 1050m

To find the time, we would use the second equation of motion;

S = ut + \frac {1}{2}at^{2}

Substituting into the equation, we have;

1200 = 0(t) + \frac {1}{2}*9.8*t^{2}

1200 = 0 + 4.9*t^{2}

1200 = 4.9*t^{2}

t^{2} = \frac {1200}{4.9}

t = \sqrt{122.45}

t = 11.07 secs

To find the velocity;

Mathematically, velocity is given by the equation;

Velocity = \frac{distance}{time}

Substituting into the above equation;

Velocity = \frac{1050}{11.07}

Velocity = 94.85m/s

Therefore, the velocity of the water above 1050 m over the sea level is 94.85m/s.

The kinetic energy of a ball with a mass of 0.5 kg and a velocity of 10 m/s is
Arada [10]
The formula for kinetic energy is: KE = 1/2 x mass x velocity squared. We can plug in the information for the ball into this equation to determine the kinetic energy. The mass is 0.5 kg and the velocity is 10 meters per second. So: KE = (1/2)(0.5)(10)^2. Thus the kinetic energy of the ball is 25 J. The unit Joule (J) is the same as kgm^2/s^2 and is the SI unit for kinetic energy.
