Two friends, Burt and Ernie, are standing at opposite ends of a uniform log that is floating in a lake. The log is 3.2m long and

has mass 290kg . Burt has mass 33kg and Ernie has mass 32kg, Initially the log and the two friends are at rest relative to the shore. Burt then offers Ernie a cookie, and Ernie walks to Burt's end of the log to get it,then Relative to the shore, what distance has the log moved by the time Ernie reaches Burt? Neglect any horizontal force that the water exerts on the log and assume that neither Burt nor Ernie falls off the log.

Answer:

x = 0.29 m

Explanation:

As we know that the net external force on the system of mass is ZERO

so here the COM of whole system will always remain at rest

So we will have

m_1\Delta x_1 + m_2\Delta x_2 + m_3\Delta x_3 = 0

here we know that Ernie walks to Burt's position so we have

33 x + 290 x + 32(-3.2 + x) = 0

355 x = 102.4

so we have

x = \frac{102.4}{355}

x = 0.29 m

What is your acceleration while sitting in your chair. the latitude of corvallis is 44.4˚.?
marta [7]
You can start with the equations you know

a=v^2/r = (2pi*r/T)^2/r = 4pi^2r/T^2

Radius of earth (R) = 6378.1 km
Time in one day (T) = 86400 seconds
Latitude = 44.4 degrees

If you draw a circle and have the radius going out at a 44.4 degree angle above the center you can then find the r.

r=Rcos(44.4)
r=6378.1cos(44.4)
r= 4556.978198 km or 4556978 m

Now you can plug this value into the acceleration equation from above...

a= 1.8*10^8/7.47*10^9
a= .0241 m/s^2

A car has a force of 2000N and a mass of 1000kg. What is the acceleration
Anastaziya [24]

Answer:

2m/s/s

Explanation:

The formula goes- F=MA

F-Force M-Mass & A-Acceleration

We need to rearrange this formula to find the acceleration-

A=F/M

All we need to do now is substitute the values in

A=2000N/1000kg

A=2m/s^2

In the given option the last option (2m/s/s) would be the ans, as it's the same as 2m/s^2

So ya, I guess that's all

Why wil an ice cube melt if it is compressed even if it remains at the same temp
Gnoma [55]
No, it will only melt if the temperature is lowered. If you compress it, it will change the shape, but it will not change the state it is in (i.e. solid).
