Answer:

The fraction of the maximum intensity a distance y 5 0.600 cm away from the central maximum is 0.97.

Explanation:

d = 0.180 mm = 1.8 x 10⁻⁴ m

L = 80 cm = 0.8 m

λ = 656.3 nm = 6.563 x 10⁻⁷ m

y = 0.6 cm = 6 x 10⁻³ m

we know that the equation of the intensity for two slits interference equation is

I = I_{max} cos²(πdy/λL)

where

I = intensity

I_{max}  = maximum intensity

d = distance of two slits

y = the distance of the interference with the central

L = the distance of screen and the slits

λ = wavelength

so,

I = I_{max} cos²(πdy/λL)

I/I_{max}  = cos²(πdy/λL)

          = cos²[π (1.8 x 10⁻⁴) (6 x 10⁻³)/(6.563 x 10⁻⁷) (0.8 )]

          = 0.97

Batman (95kg) is standing on top of a 50m high building looking out over the city of Gotham. Given that he uses the potential en
Oksanka [162]

Answer:

47 kJoules (kJ)

Explanation:

Potential enegy on Earth is given by the relationship:

P.E. = mgh, where m is mass, g is the acceleration due to Earth's gravity, and h is height. Since we are given metric values, we will look for an answer that is consistent with Joules, the metric measure of energy. 1 Joule is defined as 1 kg*m^2/s^2, so we wnat units of kg, m, and sec.

We are given:

m = 95kg

h = 50 meters

Earth's gravity, g is 9.8 m/s^2

Enter the data:

P.E. = mgh

P.E. = (95kg)(9.8m/s^2)(50m)

P.E. = 46550 kg*m^2/s^2 or 46550 Joules(J)

Since we only have 2 sig figs, and since 1kJ =- 1000J

We can state the potential energy is 47kJ.

Spiderman has 47kJ of potential energy for the start of any dive back to Earth. [He needed that same amount of energy to reach that height, but we don't know from where it came. A jump, helicopter, beamed up by Scotty, or tossed up by Doctor Octopus.]

Indicate whether the statement is true or false. A force can be simply defined as a push or a pull.
Sidana [21]
This B: False, because the definition is lacking.

Force is when two objects interact with one another causing it to either move or not move. In our daily lives there are a lot of times force is exerted upon us, rather force is everywhere and here are the evidences:

*Pushing a cart
*Pushing a wall
*Hitting a baseball bat
*Apple falling down from a tree.
*Balls hitting one another
*A swinging pendulum
*Throwing a paper with stone above it
*Breaking of glass in the floor
*Falling of leaves on the grass

A 70mm long blockhas cross-section of 50mm by 10mm the block is subjected to forces 60KN (tension) on the 50mm by 10mm face and
sammy [17]

Answer:

970 kN

Explanation:

The length of the block = 70 mm

The cross section of the block = 50 mm by 10 mm

The tension force applies to the 50 mm by 10 mm face, F₁ = 60 kN

The compression force applied to the 70 mm by 10 mm face, F₂ = 110 kN

By volumetric stress, we have that for there to be no change in volume, the total pressure applied by the given applied forces should be equal to the pressure removed by the added applied force

The pressure due to the force F₁ = 60 kN/(50 mm × 10 mm) = 120 MPa

The pressure due to the force F₂ = 110 kN/(70 mm × 10 mm) = 157.142857 MPa

The total pressure applied to the block, P = 120 MPa + 157.142857 MPa = 277.142857 MPa

The required force, F₃ = 277.142857 MPa × (70 mm × 50 mm) = 970 kN
