A calculator shows that 2 ≈ 1.414 and 3 ≈ 1.732. Use linear interpolation to estimate 2.2 . Hint: Find the number that is 0.2 of

the difference between 1.414 and 1.732 and add this number to the smaller number, 1.414. Round your estimate to the nearest thousandth.

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that a calculator shows that 2 ≈ 1.414 and 3 ≈ 1.732.

i.e. using calculators square root of irrational numbers are being found out.

We have \sqrt{2} =1.414\\\sqrt{3} =1.732

We have to find square root of 2.2

2.2 = 2+0.2

When 2 increases to 3 square root increases by 0.318

In the same rate if increase is there if 2 increases to 0.2 the increase would be

0.2*0.318 = 0.0636

Hence we can say that

\sqrt{2.02} =1.414+0.0636\\= 1.4776

Thus using linear interpolation we find that 2.2 has estimate for square root

as 1.4776.

Explain how to tell weather an event is as likely as not
Degger [83]
I think the answer may be that an event is as likely as not to happen when the probability of the event happening is 50%, and the probability of the event not happening is 50%. Like a coin toss, the chance you will flip a "heads" is 1/2 or 50%, and the chance that you WON'T flip a heads is also 1/2 or 50%

What is the solution of the system?
10x – 2y = 24
6x+2y = 8
Stels [109]

Answer: x = 2 , y = 5

Step-by-step explanation:

10x - 2y = 24 ..................... equation 1

6x + 2y = 8 ........................ equation 2

solving the system of linear equation by elimination method , add equation 1 and 2

16x = 32

divide through by 16

x = 2

substitute x = 2 into equation 1 to find the value of y

10(2) - 2y = 2y

20 - 2y = 2y

20 = 4y

y = 5
