The terminal velocity of a person falling in air depends upon the weight and the area of the person facing the fluid. Find the t

erminal velocity (in meters per second and kilometers per hour) of an 84.0 kg skydiver falling in a pike (headfirst) position with a surface area of 0.160 m2. (Assume that the density of air is 1.21 kg/m3 and the drag coefficient of a skydiver in a pike position is 0.7.)

Answer:

110.27 m/s or 396.972 km/h

Explanation:

F = Force

m = Mass = 84 kg

g = Acceleration due to gravity = 9.81 m/s²

C = Drag coefficient = 0.7

ρ = Density of air = 1.21 kg/m³

A = Surface area = 0.16 m²

v = Terminal velocity

F = ma

F=\frac{1}{2}\rho CAv^2\\\Rightarrow ma=\frac{1}{2}\rho CAv^2\\\Rightarrow v=\sqrt{2\frac{ma}{\rho CA}}\\\Rightarrow v=\sqrt{2\frac{84\times 9.81}{1.21\times 0.7\times 0.16}}\\\Rightarrow v=110.27\ m/s

Converting to km/h

\frac{110.27}{1000}\times 3600=396.972\ km/h

Terminal velocity of the skydiver is 110.27 m/s or 396.972 km/h

Balanced forces keep this boy in place on his chair. What
I am Lyosha [343]

While the boy is sitting on the chair it creates a force downward on the chair and therefore the chair takes it and gives off the equal amount of force. So while he is putting force downward the chair is putting the same force upward.

What is the angular position in radians of the minute hand of a clock at 2:55?
OleMash [197]
Refer to the diagram shown.

There are twelve 5-minute divisions.
Each 5-minute division is equal to 360°/12 = 30°.

By convention, angles are measured counterclockwise from the positive x-axis.
The angular position of the minute hand at 2:55 is
θ = 90° + 30° = 120°

Because 360° = 2π radians, therefore
θ = (120/360)*2π = (2π)/3 radians  = 2.0944 radians

Answer: (2π)/3 radians ofr 2.0944 radians.

a body is projected at an angle of 30 degrees to the horizontal with a velocity of 15m/s, calculate the time it takes to reach t
andreev551 [17]

Explanation:

The vertical component the velocity of the projectile is 15 m/s x sin 30 = 7.5 m/s.

The body is accelarating downwards at 10 m/s^2.

This means that every second its upward velocity reduces by 10 m/s.

So if the body is travelling upwards at 7.5 m/s then how long does it take for the velocity to become 0?

(7.5 m/s) / (10 m/s^2) = 0.75 s

Define polarization (igcse answer please)
Dmitrij [34]

Answer:

the action of polarizing or state of being or becoming polarized: such as the action or process of affecting radiation and especially light so that the vibrations of the wave assume a definite form. Polarization, in Physics, is defined as a phenomenon caused due to the wave nature of electromagnetic radiation. There are two types of waves, transverse waves, and longitudinal waves.
