Answer: decreases

The temperature of a gas decreases when the pressure decreases at constant volume

Explanation:

The statement of Pressure Law states that the pressure of a given mass of gas is directly proportional to its absolute temperature provided the volume is kept constant.

Mathematically, it is expressed as

P α T

P = kT

or P/T = k

Thus, the direct proportionality of temperature and pressure makes temperature of a gas decreases when the pressure decreases and increases when pressure increases.

Is iced tea with no ice a homogenuous or a heterogenuous mixture? ...?
yan [13]
It is a homogeneous mixture because you cannot see the individual components that make up the iced tea (such as the water, the molecules found in the tea leaves, etc.). Iced tea with ice in it is considered a heterogeneous mixture because you can distinguish the tea from the ice.

How many moles of NO2 form when
63.25 g N2O5 decompose?
2N2O5→ 4NO2 + 0₂
GREYUIT [131]

Answer:

1.1713 moles

Explanation:

RFM of N2O5= (14*2)+(16*4)=108

Moles of N2O5= Mass/RFM= 63.25/108= 0.5856 moles

Mole ratio of N2O5:NO2 = 2:4

Therefore moles of NO2= 4/2*0.5856= 1.1713 moles

Which metal will spontaneously react with Zn2+(aq), but will not spontaneously react with Mg2+(aq)?
DerKrebs [107]
Correct Answer: option (1) Mn(s)

Reason:
The spontaneity of electrochemical cell, depends on the it's Eo value. Electrochemical cells with positve Eo are spontanous and vice-versa.

In present case, the Eo of half-cell of interest are as follows:
Eo Zn2+/Zn = -0.763v
Eo Mg2+/Mg = 2.37v
Eo Mn2+/Mn = -1.18v

Therefore, Eo cell (with Zn as one of the half-cell) = Eo Zn2+/Zn - Eo Mn2+/Mn
                                                                                =  -0.763 - (-1.18)
                                                                                = 0.417v

On other hand, Eo cell (with Mg as one of the half-cell) = Eo Mg2+/Zn - Eo Mn2+/Mn
                                                                                =  -2.37 - (-1.18)
                                                                                = -1.19v

Thus, Mn(s) metal will spontaneously react with Zn2+(aq), but will not spontaneously react with Mg2+(aq)

One liter of a solution is found to contain 0.022 moles of HCl. Calculate the pH of the solution. Assume complete dissociation.
Ierofanga [76]

Answer:

The pH of the solution is 1.66

Explanation:

Step 1: Data given

Number of moles HCl = 0.022 moles

Molar mass of HCl = 36.46 g/mol

Step 2: Calculate molarity of HCl

Molarity HCl = moles HCl / volume

Molarity HCl = 0.022 moles / 1 L = 0.022 M

[HCl] = [H+] = 0.022 M

Step 3: Calculate pH

pH = -log [H+]

pH = -log(0.022)

pH = 1.66

The pH of the solution is 1.66
