The carbon cycle is the biogeochemical cycle which involves an exchange of carbon among the biosphere, pedosphere, geosphere, hydrosphere, and atmosphere of the Earth.

Carbon is the most important component of the biological compounds such as limestone. Also, during soil respiration, Carbon can leave the soil through it which releases CO_{2}, which carries it into the rivers or the ocean, where it then enters the hydrosphere.

Thus, option D is correct.

Answer:

D) The geosphere, hydrosphere, and atmosphere

Explanation:

During the carbon cycle, various processes move carbon from the geosphere to the atmosphere such as volcanic eruptions release carbon dioxide from molten rock beneath the earth's surface to the atmosphere. Carbon can leave the soil through soil respiration which releases CO2, or by erosion which can carry it into rivers or the ocean, where it then enters the hydrosphere. Carbon is found in the hydrosphere dissolved in ocean water and lakes and hence the cycle continues.

Which of the following compounds contains the Lead (II) ion?
PbO
PbCl4
Pb2O
Pb2S
KATRIN_1 [288]
PbO Let's look at each of the 4 compounds and see what's needed. PbO. * Oxygen has a valance shell that's missing 2 electrons and wants to get those 2 elections. Lead donates them, so you have a Lead (II) ions. This is a correct choice. PbCl4 * Chlorine wants to grab 1 electron to fill it's valance shell and Lead donates that election. However, there's 4 chlorine atoms and every one of them wants and electron, and lead is donating all 4 of the desired electrons making the Lead (IV) ion. So this is a bad choice. Pb2O * Oxygen still wants 2 electrons and gets them from the lead. But there's 2 lead atoms and each of them donates 1 election making for 2 Lead(I) ions. So this too is a bad choice. Pb2S * Sulfur is in the same column of the periodic table as oxygen and if this compound were to exist would have similar properties as Pb2O and would have Lead(I) ions. So this is a bad choice.

Which statement best describes alpha decay?(1 point)
Veseljchak [2.6K]

Answer:

After the ejection of an alpha particle, the remaining nucleus has a mass number that is four less and an atomic number that is two less, so alpha decay is a type of nuclear fission.

Given the chemical formulas of the following compounds, name each compound and state the rules you used to determine each name.
Svetlanka [38]
When naming an ionic compound, write the name of the cation, which is the metal first. Then, write the name of the anion, which is the nonmetal. However, you remove the last 2-3 letters and replace suffixes.

1. RbF --> Rubidium Fluoride
Change fluorine to fluoride
2. CuO --> Copper (II) Oxide
Change oxygen to oxide. Oxide has a charge of -2. Since no subscripts are written, it means they have the same opposite charge. So, we use Copper (II).
3. (NH₄)₂C₂O₄ ---> Ammonium Oxalate
NH₄ is ammonia, but we change it to ammonium for polyatomic ions.
