(a) A uniform disk of mass 21 kg, thickness 0.5 m, and radius 0.6 m is located at the origin, oriented with its axis along the a

xis. It rotates clockwise around its axis when viewed from above (that is, you stand at a point on the axis and look toward the origin at the disk). The disk makes one complete rotation every 0.7 s. What is the rotational angular momentum of the disk? What is the rotational kinetic energy of the disk? (Express your answer for rotational angular momentum in vector form.)

Answer:L=33.93

R.E.=152.30

Explanation:

Given

mass of disk\left ( m\right )=21kg

thickness\left ( t\right )=0.5m

radius\left ( r\right )=0.6m

t=0.7 sec for every complete rotation

therefore angular velocity\left ( \omega \right ) =\frac{\Delta \theta }{\Delta t}

\left ( \omega \right )=\frac{ 2\pi }{0.7}=8.977 rad/s

Rotational angular momentum is given by

L=I\omega

I=\frac{mr^2}{2}

I=3.78 kg-m^2

L=3.78\times 8.977

L=33.93 \hat{j}

considering disk is rotating in z-x plane

Rotational kinetic energy=\frac{I\omega ^{2}}{2}=152.30 J

A horizontal force of 12N is applied to 1.5kg of block which rests on a horizontal surface. If the coefficient friction is 0.3,
Rama09 [41]

Answer:

7 m/s²

Explanation:

From the question given above, the following data were:

Force applied (Fₐ) = 15 N

Mass (m) of block = 1.5 Kg

Acceleration due to gravity (g) = 10 m/s²

Coefficient of friction (μ) = 0.3

Acceleration (a) of block =?

Next, we shall determine the frictional force. This can be obtained as follow:

Mass (m) of block = 1.5 Kg

Acceleration due to gravity (g) = 10 m/s²

Coefficient of friction (μ) = 0.3

Normal reaction (R) = mg = 1.5 × 10 = 15 N

Frictional force (Fբ) =?

Fբ = μR

Fբ = 0.3 × 15

Fբ = 4.5 N

Next, we shall determine the net force acting on the block. This can be obtained as follow:

Force applied (Fₐ) = 15 N

Frictional force (Fբ) = 4.5 N

Net force (Fₙ) =.?

Fₙ = Fₐ – Fբ

Fₙ = 15 – 4.5

Fₙ = 10.5 N

Finally, we shall determine the acceleration produced in the block. This can be obtained as follow:

Mass (m) of block = 1.5 Kg

Net force (Fₙ) = 10.5 N

Acceleration (a) of block =?

Fₙ = ma

10.5 = 1.5 × a

Divide both side by a

a = 10.5 / 1.5

a = 7 m/s²

Therefore, the acceleration produced in the block is 7 m/s²

Why does it take significantly stronger magnetic and electric field strengths to move the beam of alpha particles compared with
wlad13 [49]
It takes significantly stronger magnetic and electric field strengths to move a beam of alpha particles compared with the beam of electrons(betaparticles) because the charge of an alpha particle is twice stronger than a beta particle. Therefore, more energy is needed to move the alpha particle.
