Explanation:

Atomic number of calcium is 20 and its electronic configuration is 2, 8, 8, 2. So, to acquire stability it loses 2 valence electrons and hence forms Ca^{2+} ion.

Whereas atomic number of calcium is 17 and its electronic distribution is 2, 8, 7. To attain stability its needs to gain one electron and hence then it forms Cl^{-} ion.

Therefore, when both calcium and chlorine chemically combine together then they will form calcium chloride, that is, CaCl_{2}.

Thus, we can conclude that the chemical formula of calcium chloride is CaCl_{2}.

2H2 +O2 = 2H2O balance equation with 5 oxygen
Ivenika [448]

10H₂    +   5O₂ →    10H₂O

Explanation:

This problem deals with balancing of chemical equations. In balancing chemical equations, the law of conservation of mass must be followed. This states that:

   "In a chemical reaction, matter is neither created nor destroyed but transformed from one form to another".

This meaning of this is that; the number of atoms on each side of the expression must be the same.

                    2H₂    +   O₂ →    2H₂O

let us check is the equation above is balanced;

                                      2H₂    +   O₂ →    2H₂O

Elements             reactant                product

H                                  4                           4

O                                   2                           2

We can see vividly that the equation is balanced;

Now; if we have 5 oxygen gas, we multiply the equation through by 5:

                                 5 x          (  2H₂    +   O₂ →    2H₂O   )

     ⇒        10H₂    +   5O₂ →    10H₂O

Elements             reactant                product

H                                  20                       20

O                                  10                        10

Compare the arrangements of individual particles in solids, liquids, and gases
pochemuha
Solids - particles are very close together (highest density on the list)
Liquids - the particles slide past one another
Gases - particles bounce off of surroundings and the same particles of the gas

Which property altered during a chemical change is not altered during a physical change?
marissa [1.9K]

During physical changes, the composition od the original substance is not altered, but the properties of the original substance are altered. During a chemical change the composition od the original substance is not altered and the change is irreversible. Melting of butter and wax is an example of chemical changes.
