Consider the He–Ne laser beam with power P = 0.5 mW, and wavelength in vacuum λo = 632.8 nm, as it travels in the x-direction in

an experimental vacuum system at NASA-JPL. Show all work .
a. Knowing that the laser beam intensity, I (W/m^2 ), equals the time average value of the Poynting Vector, Sav= E^2max/2μo^2c , then calculate the maximum amplitude of the electric field for this laser beam.

Answer:

Explanation:

Power P = .5 mW = .5 x 10⁻³

P = Emax²   / 2μo x c , c is velocity of light , μo is permeability of air .

Emax² = P x 2μo x c

=  .5 x 10⁻³  x 2 x 4π x 10⁻⁷ x 3 x 10⁸

= 37.68 x 10⁻²

Emax = 6.14 x 10⁻¹

= .614 v/m

b) Bmax = Emax  / c

= .614  / 3 x 10⁸

= .2046 x 10⁻⁸ T

= 20.46 x 10⁻¹⁰ T.

How can electricty be used to create a magnetic field
Strike441 [17]
When a charged particle such as an electron, proton or ion is in motion, magnetic lines of force rotate around the particle. Since electrical current moving through a wire consists of electrons in motion, there is a magnetic field around the wire.      i hope u have smileing day

A 0.25-m string, vibrating in its sixth harmonic, excites a 0.96-m pipe that is open at both ends into its second overtone reson
Andrews [41]

Answer:

option D

Explanation:

given,

length of the pipe, L = 0.96 m

Speed of sound,v = 345 m/s

Resonating frequency when both the end is open

f = \dfrac{nv}{2L}

n is the Harmonic number

2nd overtone = 3rd harmonic

so, here n = 3

now,

f = \dfrac{3\times 345}{2\times 0.96}

f = 540 Hz

The common resonant frequency of the string and the pipe is closest to 540 Hz.

the correct answer is option D

Traveling waves propagate with a fixed speed usually denoted as v (but sometimes c). The waves are called __________ if their wa
Snezhnost [94]

Answer:

Periodic.

Explanation:

Electromagnetic waves is a propagating medium used in all communications device to transmit data (messages) from the device of the sender to the device of the receiver.

Generally, the most commonly used electromagnetic wave technology in telecommunications is radio waves.

Radio waves can be defined as an electromagnetic wave that has its frequency ranging from 30 GHz to 300 GHz and its wavelength between 1mm and 3000m. Therefore, radio waves are a series of repetitive valleys and peaks that are typically characterized of having the longest wavelength in the electromagnetic spectrum.

Basically, as a result of radio waves having long wavelengths, they are mainly used in long-distance communications such as the carriage and transmission of data.

Generally, a fixed speed is used for the propagation of traveling waves and this speed is usually denoted with the variable "v" or sometimes "c."

Furthermore, if the waveform of a traveling wave is repeated every time at specific intervals T, it is referred to as periodic wave.

Mathematically, the period of a traveling wave is given by the formula;

Period = \frac {1}{T}

Where;

T is the time measured in seconds.
