Answer:

We will not have a reaction.

Explanation:

The alcohol 2-methylhexan-2-ol its a tertiary alcohol. Additionally, the reaction of K_2Cr_2O_7 and acid medium will produce chromic acid H_2Cr_2O_7 with the following reaction:

K_2Cr_2O_7~+~2H^+->~H_2Cr_2O_7~+~2K^+

Chromic acid is a strong oxidant, so an oxidation-reduction reaction will take place. But, in this case. we have tertiary alcohol (see figure 1). Primary alcohols are oxidized to aldehydes and aldehydes are oxidized to carboxylic acids. Secondary alcohols are oxidized to ketones and tertiary alcohols can not be oxidized due to the lack of hydrogens on the carbon that is bonded to the "OH" group.

Therefore we will have no reaction.

What is the concentration, in m/v percent, of a solution prepared from 50 g NaCl and 2.5 L of solution?
Serjik [45]
When we convert the given mass in grams and volume in liters to m/v percent, we recall that m/v percent is expressed as grams/100 milliliters. In this case the expression becomes (50 grams/ 2500 L)*(0.1L/100ml), that is equal to 0.002 grams/ 100 mL. Hence the the concentration is equal to 0.2 m/v percent.

Five students performed a Kjeldahl nitrogen analysis of a protein sample. The following weight % nitrogen values were determined
Sunny_sXe [5.5K]

Answer:

G_calculated = 1.756

The outlier should be rejected, as G_cal > G_tab (= 1.463) at 95 % confidence.

Explanation:

The Grubb's test is used for identifying an outlier in data, which is from the same population. For this, a statistical term, G, is calculated for the suspected outlier. If the calculated value is greater than the tabulated G value then the suspected value is rejected. This term is given as,

G_calculated = | suspect value - mean| / s

Here, suspect value is 13.8, mean is to be taken of all the data (including suspected value). s is the standard deviation of the sample data.

s is calculated from the following formula:

s = (Σ(xi - x)²/(N-1))^1/2

Here, x is the mean, which is 15.24, xi is individual value and N is the total number of data (5).

From the above formula, s is found to be

Standard Deviation, s = 0.820

Now for G value,

G_calculated = | 13.8 - 15.24| / (0.820)

G_ calculated = 1.756

The tabulated G value at 95 % confidence and N -1 (5 - 1 = 4) degree of freedom is, 1.463.

As calculated G (1.756) is greater than the tabulated G (1.463), the value 13.8 is considered an outlier at 95 % confidence.

In the gaseous state, chlorine exists as a diatomic molecule Cl2 (Molar mass = 70.9 g/mol). Calculate the number of moles of chl
Annette [7]

Answer:

3.67 mol Cl

Explanation:

We need to convert g of Cl 2 to moles of Cl. First we divide 130 gCl2 by the molar mass (70.90 gCl2/mol) to find out how many moles of Cl2 do we have.

130 gCl2 x \frac{1 mol Cl2 }{70.90 gCl2} = 1.83 mol Cl2

Then we need to convert 1.83 mol de Cl2 to moles of Cl. We have 2 moles of Cl in every Cl2 molecule so we just need to multiply by 2.

1.83 molCl2 x \frac{2 molCl}{1 molCl2} = 3.67 molCl
