Solve:-

-√127 = ?
-√127 = -11.2694276695846449

The answer to this is irrational because this number goes on and on forever and it can not be expressed as a ratio, so your answer is irrational.

Hope I helped ya!! xD

Its irrational because the square root of 127 is a decimal that goes on and on and cannot be represented as a fraction. So it is irrational.
Hope this helps.

Find the equation of a line passing through (-4,-3) and perpendicular to<br> 3 x + 2 y = 14.
Reil [10]

keeping in mind that perpendicular lines have negative reciprocal slopes, let's check for the slope of the equation above

3x+2y=14\implies 2y=-3x+14\implies y=\cfrac{-3x+14}{2}\implies y = \cfrac{-3x}{2}+\cfrac{14}{2} \\\\\\ y=\stackrel{\stackrel{m}{\downarrow }}{-\cfrac{3}{2}}x+7\qquad \impliedby \begin{array}{|c|ll} \cline{1-1} slope-intercept~form\\ \cline{1-1} \\ y=\underset{y-intercept}{\stackrel{slope\qquad }{\stackrel{\downarrow }{m}x+\underset{\uparrow }{b}}} \\\\ \cline{1-1} \end{array}

so therefore

\stackrel{~\hspace{5em}\textit{perpendicular lines have \underline{negative reciprocal} slopes}~\hspace{5em}} {\stackrel{slope}{\cfrac{-3}{2}} ~\hfill \stackrel{reciprocal}{\cfrac{2}{-3}} ~\hfill \stackrel{negative~reciprocal}{-\cfrac{2}{-3}\implies \cfrac{2}{3}}}

so we're really looking for the equation of a line whose slope is 2/3 and passes through (-4 , -3)

(\stackrel{x_1}{-4}~,~\stackrel{y_1}{-3})\qquad \qquad \stackrel{slope}{m}\implies \cfrac{2}{3} \\\\\\ \begin{array}{|c|ll} \cline{1-1} \textit{point-slope form}\\ \cline{1-1} \\ y-y_1=m(x-x_1) \\\\ \cline{1-1} \end{array}\implies y-\stackrel{y_1}{(-3)}=\stackrel{m}{\cfrac{2}{3}}(x-\stackrel{x_1}{(-4)}) \implies y+3=\cfrac{2}{3}(x+4) \\\\\\ y+3=\cfrac{2}{3}x+\cfrac{8}{3}\implies y=\cfrac{2}{3}x+\cfrac{8}{3}-3\implies y=\cfrac{2}{3}x-\cfrac{1}{3}

The scale of a room in a blueprint is 6in : 13ft. A wall in the same blueprint is 9 inches. How long is the actual wall?
Ganezh [65]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

6 in to 13 ft = 9 in to x ft

6 / 13 = 9 / x.....cross multiply because this is a proportion

(6)(x) = (13)(9)

6x = 117

x = 117/6

x = 19.5 (or 19 1/2) ft <====

Give the equation of the line through the point ( - 10,9) with a slope of -1/5
hichkok12 [17]

Equation of the line in slope-intercept form is y = -1/5 x + 9

Step-by-step explanation:

  • Step 1: Given slope of the line is -1/5 and the point is (-10, 9). Here m=-1/5.

⇒ y = -1/5 x + b  ------ (1)

  • Step 2: Find the y-intercept of the line, b. Since the line passes through (-10, 9) substitute x = -10 and y = 9 in eq(1)

⇒ 9 = -1/5 × -10 + b = 2 + b

⇒ b = 9 - 2 = 7

  • Step 3: Slope intercept form of the line is y = mx + b. Form the equation using the values of m and b.

⇒ y = -1/5 x + 7

It can also be written as 5y + x = 35
