Tidal bulges are always on the opposite side of the Earth.
They are created because of the gravitational influence of the Moon on Earth and inertial's counter balance.

The side of the Earth that is facing the Moon is the closest to the Moon, and the gravitational force is the strongest when the distance is the smallest.

As the Moon is trying to draw the water towards itself, the inertia tries to keep the water at its place. On the opposite side of the Earth, "behind the Moon", the gravitational force of the Moon is the weakest, so inertia is the strongest. That's why tidal bulges are at the opposite side.

Question 1 of 10
Novay_Z [31]

Answer:

C. 5.6 × 10^11 N/C

Explanation:

The electric field E at a distance R from a charge Q is given by

E = k\dfrac{Q}{R^2}

where k = 9*10^9Nm/C is the coulomb's constant.

Now, in our case

R = 0.0075m

Q = 0.0035C;

therefore,

E = (9*10^9)\dfrac{0.0035C}{(0.0075m)^2}

\boxed{E = 5.6*10^{11}N/C.}

which is choice C from the options given (at least it resembles it).

When a potassium atom forms an ion, it loses one electron. What is the electrical charge of the potassium ion?
fomenos
The correct answer is answer choice C. +1. Since electrons have negative charges, losing one electron will cause the atom to have a positive charge of 1. This charge comes from the protons, which, until one electron was lost, balanced out the negative charge of the electrons and caused the atom to be neutral.

A 100 N force is applied to a 50 kg crate resting on a level floor. The coefficient of kinetic friction is 0.15. What is the acc
Nookie1986 [14]

The acceleration of the crate after it begins to move is 0.5 m/s²

We'll begin by calculating the the frictional force

Mass (m) = 50 Kg

Coefficient of kinetic friction (μ) = 0.15

Acceleration due to gravity (g) = 10 m/s²

Normal reaction (N) = mg = 50 × 10 = 500 N

Frictional force (Fբ) =?

Fբ = μN

Fբ = 0.15 × 500

Fբ = 75 N

 • Next, we shall determine the net force acting on the crate

Frictional force (Fբ) = 75 N

Force (F) = 100 N

Net force (Fₙ) =?

Fₙ = F – Fբ

Fₙ = 100 – 75

Fₙ = 25 N

 • Finally, we shall determine the acceleration of the crate

Mass (m) = 50 Kg

Net force (Fₙ) = 25 N

Acceleration (a) =?

a = Fₙ / m

a = 25 / 50

a = 0.5 m/s²

Therefore, the acceleration of the crate is 0.5 m/s²
