3) Solve the System of Equations using Elimination/Combinations. (5 points)
Schach [20]

Answer:

(1, 2 )

Step-by-step explanation:

Given the 2 equations

- 2x - y = - 4 → (1)

x + 2y = 5 → (2)

Multiplying (2) by 2 and adding result to (1) will eliminate x- term

2x + 4y = 10 → (3)

Add (1) and (3) term by term to eliminate x

0 + 3y = 6

3y = 6 ( divide both sides by 3 )

y = 2

Substitute y = 2 into either of the 2 equations and solve for x

Substituting into (2)

x + 2(2) = 5

x + 4 = 5 ( subtract 4 from both sides )

x = 1

solution is (1, 2 )

Which set of ordered pairs represent a linear function?
nordsb [41]

Answer:

{(-2, 8), (1,5), (4,2), (7, -1)} represents a linear function.

Step-by-step explanation:

In order to get from an x-value of -2 to 1 you add 3.

In order to get from a y-value of 8 to 5 you subtract 3.

This pattern is consistent with each coordinate in the ordered pair.

Eric collected 1 1/3 times as many beads as Malik in the beginning. If Eric collected 48 more beads and Malik collected 13 more
-BARSIC- [3]

E = \frac{4M}{3} \\E + 48 = 2(M+13)\\E + 48 = 2M + 26\\\frac{4M}{3}+48 = 2M + 26\\4M + 144 = 6M + 78\\2M = 66\\M = 33

At the beginning, Malik had 33 beads, and Eric had 44, making them have 77 beads in total

At the end, Malik had (33 + 13 =) 46 beads and Eric had (44 + 48 = ) 92 beads.
